I first took it out to show a sales guy and ask if they had anymore. He said they were totally out in the whole city and the closest place was 100 miles away. Then I left, but I was too lazy to take the price tag back to the computer aisles...the sales guy didn't seem to care. I figure if they don't have anymore, then they probably don't care if they have the tag still....right?

Anyway, hopefully some of you guys can use the price tag scan to PM at other stores....good luck!

Just picked it up in the Dallas area.

Best Buy Plano store has the $69.99 tag but no stock (no stock at McKinney store either), Frisco and Mesquite stores have stock but price shows $114. I had the Frisco store call and price match the Plano store. Worked like a charm. However, the Plano store manager said that the tag should have been removed, so pricematching with the Plano store may not work anymore.

anyone want to host that price tag scan?

my gf's gotten a few weirdo emails about her website (mostly comments about pictures) since I'm hosting the BB price tag scan on her school's personal web site. Damn people with asian girl fettishes :|....I'm taking down the link now and am removing the file in a bit. I'm hoping it's some weirdo from FW and not you guys.

If anyone is willing to host the scan of the 29.99 Best Buy price tag, just pm me. Thanks!

Just got back from CC and CUSA. They both would PM to $69.99, I'd tried to get more saying the rebate was at BB only but the guy wouldn't budge. I wanted to go to the innocent looking checkout girl but some guy at the CS desk said he could help me. So anyway, CUSA looks like the way to go and really no hassle. $40 after MIR, still not bad!!

Price at my local BB is $114.99-$40 MIR = $74.99. Looks like the price of $69.99 was only good for yesterday, Sunday. :frown:

I went to my local Best Buy in San Diego, CA. They didn't have any on the shelf and no price tag either, I asked someone for the price and it was $114.99-$40 MIR.

The shelf tag specifically says good through 1/25. They could jsut mean the rebate, but that would be awful misleading and best buy would never do something like that

Oh, I got my drive with the help of the shelf tag (thanx !) and a bit of arguing. I'm amazed bestbuy employees even give a crap what you pay. I got rung up by a girl that didn't look like she knew a hard drive from a porn film (pun intended) and she still gave me crap about the price.

I also tried to do a special pricematch at circuit city. They will sometimes around here pm to a final price after MIR as longas its a store rebate and not mfr. Guy in them orning told me it would be no problem so I thought Iwas gonna get this for 24-30 bucks out the door. Called back altero n and guy says I need to talk to cust serv for final approval. Customer service guy gives me run around then tells me the only way he would possibly do it is if it was a mfr rebate (note the contradiction) ..... notice that if it's a mfr rebate, then cc will also include it in their price and then there is no point in mentioning the mfr rebate. Bunch of jerks.

Thinking objectively on it... why shouldn't stores have to match prices after mail in rebate if the rebate is a store rebate ? There's no difference between an instant rebate and a mail in rebate other than timing really. Stupid loopholes.

Didn't see the $69.99 anywhere today, all they had was the $114.99 shelf tag. I couldn't have moved my lazy ass yesterday to get into that deal but chose not to. I'll be surprised if they still have it at $69.99 anywhere since BB usually "market reactions" w/ CompUSA prices. CSR said that the $69.99 was a one day deal only. :disgust:

My reluctance to get into this deal is that I still have 2 Maxtor 120 GB 7200 rpm ATA/133 8 mb ($87.87 each) and 2 WD 80GB 7200 rpm ATA/100 2 mb ($58.01 each after $40 MIR) from previous Hot Deals.

You can always print out the tag from FW and give it a try if you want it bad enough. I got one at BB but I'm waiting to see if someone from CC who managed to get a PM after MIR can post receipt. MY CC were being jerks about it.

Wow, can someone get a scan of the tag or a receipt if they'll pricematch it? I just called the nearest one to me and I would get shafted, the dude said it was 144.99, yikes!

Picked one up at my small local BB, $69.99 shelf tag, 2 left after me. Computer rang up as $114.99 but they adjusted it. Went back later for another 1 (for a friend) and shelf was empty, $69.99 tag was gone. Early bird gets the worm!

Well, I tried the PM with the help of the tag scan and armed with a 10% off coupon @BB. I went in fully expecting to not get it considering a lot of AT members including myself revile the particular stores in our area.

After first being sent to the cashier then sent to the line for Customer Service, the girl took the scan of the tag... talked to her manager who asked me, "where did you get this scan?" I'm guessing that they confirmed it since they didn't have the tag at all in the store and the only drive on the shelf was an open box.

They let me apply the 10% coupon so after MIR, my total is $23.24 (counting stamp for the rebate).

Just hope this drive works... if not, I'll just jump to another BB and get a replacement?

just want to give props the CUSA. They were very nice about a PM that they new was a bit "odd". The general manager raised an eybrow when I said I needed four, but he was intriuged by the idea of a 4 drive raid array. Anyway, I wasn't fooling anyone, they were just applying the "customer is always right" myth. All things being equal (as in PM) I'll go out of my way to shop there.

BTW - what city was that tag from?

$45 (tax )and change for 60GB isn't

The tag was from Houston, Texas. I got my drive for the same price from CompUSA ($75 after tax with a $30 rebate)...not bad at all still.

I think it has to do with quarterly earnings numbers. Companies are allowed to charge the rebate to a special reserve they have set aside for promotions and returns, so that they can hit their quarterly marks with higher sales numbers....just a guess from an accountant in training.

edit: I've posted my scanned price tag again in the original post. Good luck.

Somebody over at FW has posted a scan of their receipt from CC showing that they PM'ed to the after rebate price. You could take that and the BB price tag and try to get CC to match it. Some people have had success.

Store near my work also had the price as $114.99. Oh well. I stick with my 16Gb and 12GB (C & D) a little longer.....

My store (Macon, GA) had a ton of them, but priced at $114.99. If they were $30 after MIR, I would have picked up one and had a friend pick up another one for me. Oh well.

Hey, I found the CompUSA drive...got it for 109.99 + 10 IR. Double checked with my local BB, found none in stock there (of course). Went back to CompUSA for the PM, they wouldn't honor it because BB was OOS. Oh well, I guess a 60Gb HD for 70 ain't bad. BTW, also go 2 50pk CDRs with 10 MIR for each (sadly I can only use one because it's one per household) and a car charge for my Nokia.

Anyway...if anyone wants a free 10 MIR, i'd be more than happy to have the payment sent to another address that hasn't already gotten the 50pk Memorex CD-R for 19.99 + 5 IR + 10 MIR.

PM me and i'll send my 2nd to you.

Yay.

BTW, why doesn't more people do this? If you have more MIR than you can use, will they stop the payment to address that are far apart? Maybe someone should arrage a site that coordinates people to help save money with extra MIR they can't use.

But don't you have at least one friend that you can send the 2nd to? Send it to his address in your name, presto, the 2nd rebate check is yours. Or get to know your neighbor.
