I did. I simply went back with the coupon a few days later and they took the $20 off (actually gave me back $21 after including tax) of the cost of HL2. They even printed me a NEW rebate reciept which I sent in on Friday via Certified mail.

I WILL be getting my $105 rebate.

yep you can always do that ^_^ but you can't use both the 10% and the 20 off 200 on the same day because the 20 off 200 says that it can't be combined with any other offers or coupon.

Yes, there has been some instances were people have gotten both. There is also the plan to buy $200 worth of merchandise with the rebate ($180) out of pocket, return without receipt, and get full $200 of store credit, then buy this deal. BUT, I am positive that if you try to PM half-life tomorrow, it will be reduced from your rebate.

For some reason before I was getting artifacts when I unlocked. But now thats Ive used driver cleaner. Installed the drivers, installed rivatuner. It seems to unlocked fine and i get a 3dmark03 score from 7400 to 9400.

Then i let coolbits do the detect optimal clock settings. It set the o/c'ed to 390/780 core/mem and now I am getting a score of ~10200-10500.

Hmmmm...how are you so positive of this? I feel their wording on the rebate form is somewhat misleading due to the wording of it.

Have you had this happen to you with another item/purchase you conducted which involved a rebate?? Anybody have BB do this (adjust your rebate after a PM)??

Besides, even if they DID do this, isn't it better to have the $15 NOW, versus waiting another 8 weeks to get it back??

Either way, I come out ahead. Either I have saved another $15 now...OR I spend LESS time without my $15 coming back in the form of a rebate.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I NEVER suggested that me getting the 10% off was some "special" thing only I could get, you moron.

Not that I "have" to explain this, but it didn't "automatically" come up for me when I checked out. She had scanned BOTH the card AND the game and there was NO, I repeat NO, 10% showing. Only after I asked her to check for another discount, AND she pushed a button on the register did it even come up.

I did this because "someone else" posted before me they they too had to ask also. All I was doing was following suit. I felt I was helping my fellow AT'ers by letting them know to be observant when making their purchase and to ASK about it if it "doesn't come up automatically.

I fully knew that I wasn't unique in getting the discount. BUT I wouldn't have received it if I hadn't asked for the clerk to check. The fact that some here have said that they DIDN'T receive the 10% is proof that it isn't ALWAYS automatic.

Now go act like a little kid around someone else.

im using the 66.93 drivers w/ rivatuner 2.0 RC15.2. rivatuner says something like these drivers are new and unrecognized. before unlocking it, rivatuner saw it as a 12x6. i went to the nvstrap driver, checked aloow enabling hardware masked units, set it to custom, clicked on customize, had to check bit 01, but bit 11 was already checked. bit 01 is the only one saying HW masked but not 11. after restart it still shows 12x6.

do i need to downgrade the nvidia drivers, or are there a newer rivatuner?

Just wanted to add that although I cannot unlock my pipes/vertex shader, I was able to OC this card to 400/800. With my Athlon Barton @ 2400MHz I get a 9945 in 3dMark2003.

Who's the little baby with the language that you're posting.

I merely said that it's in their computer. It will not show up when you scan it, but it will show up once they hit the key on the POS system. If you knew anything about how Best Buy's system works, any special deals will appear after the cashier hits the key and you are ready to pay for your items.

If this is something that you can't comprehend, then i'm sorry that I can't help you. You should get out more often and possibly get a girlfriend - it's bad getting so worked up about a video card.

Anyway, I just got home from best buy. I gave my other bfg to my friend and I hope this one will unlock! It does not have the multi color capacitors like the other one and no a60 sticker. Wish me luck!

BTW, my other one would unlock everything, but unlocking the pipes gave me artifacts. I was able to keep the vertex open

Update=

Got the card back and installed it. I also noticed that the clip that holds the HSF is different . INstead of the black metal, it is clear plastic. The good news is I UNLOCKED the vertex and pipes. NO PROBLEMS. I then OC'd to 400 800 and still no problems I am pretty happy

Just ran 3dmark03 and I'm pretty happy. With 12pipe/6 shaders default clock settings, it clocked at 9242. I was able to run 3dmark with all 16 pipes enabled and got a 9783, but it was not stable and would lock in farcry. With the 12pipes/6 shaders enabled, running 400 core/800 memory, it scored a 10191. This is with all normal background programs running, with AV enabled. I'm sure there are a lot more with tweaks, but I'm really happy with this sub $200 card. The machine is a Dell 400SC, 1GB 3200 Ram, stock power supply and cooling, P2.8 Processor. Video card never exceded 70 degrees C. GP

rivatuner couldnt unlock pipelines/shader; it showed 12/1.5 with about 5 restarts which is where i gave up. so far i managed to get it running at 435/835, hasnt crashed once yet.

EDIT : ended up selling the game to my roomate, he was gonna buy a copy anyway. i borrowed like $23.28 from him to buy the card and he gave me the ride, so we called it even. no hassle of shipping the game in case i sell it to someone else, and he doesnt have to make an extra trip to a store or pay for shipping. worked out for both of us
all in all, i will have paid $300-$105=$195 for the card alone... not too shabby at all

I went ahead and bought this, upgrading from an aging ti4600. BFG 6800 is an awesome step up in performance, but the little twin cooling fans are a bit noisy to my ears. I had a Zalman Z80 on the ti4600. I think the new Zalman Z80D isn't compatible yet with the 6800's. Does any one know if the NV silencer 5 is compatible with the BFG 6800 OC?

My card opens the the extra pipes and shader, but I can not OC. Does OCing the card with the standard 12 pipes yield better performance over opening the extra pipe and shader with out OCing?

No, the extra pipes and shader yield the bigger jump in performance but OCing that card makes quite a difference as well..though you should be able to OC a little bit..at least 370/800 or so.

Opening pipes wielded 3dmark03 scores of about 9700. Overclocking to 400/800 wielded 10100. Riva tuner can be used to overclock the card but it must be done at the driver level, so click on the "arrow" on the main page indicating the driver, then click on the "video card" symbol. You can adjust the clock speed there. GP

I will try this when I get home later. When I try and OC if the nVidia tab, it fails on the smallest increments. I will also give powerstrip a try.

I installed Coolbits and it failed. Is it OK to leave it or should I remove it before I try and OC the 6800.

yes i made it, 3 left, couldnt see the serial through the box so i picked one. 6th vertex works, 16 pipelines a no go. oc's to 400/800 np though. 7300s in 3dmark03, 3700s in 05.

i got it for around 250 after rebates. it was 279 like other best buys but a great deal and its so much better than my 9800 pro(which i sold the 9800p card, hl2 retail that came with 6800, and far cry retail for 185 to a guy on the forums, good deal)

paid about 50 bucks for a 6800 after selling my card and rebate, gg. and best buy just opened a few weeks ago in my town hehe.
