BB already sells the BBA 256MB x700 Pro for $199. It has some advantages over the 6600GT AGP 128MB and is pretty close in performance.

I just picked one up. It rang up for $269.99 + $54.99 in Woodland Hills just like other places. It comes out to a little under $220AR + tax. If you have rewards zone, you'll also get back $5-$10 in rewards certificates.

Which is better??

The 6800 with 256-bit memory, with 12 pipelines - but is only DDR1....OR...The 6600GT OC with only 8-pipeline and 128-bit DDR3 memory.

Wouldn't the DDR3 memory make the 6600 on Newegg a better card?

Anybody have feelings on this?

6800 with 12 pipes and 256 bit memory is quite a bit faster than the 6600gt with 8 pipes and 128 bit memory. plus i just picked up one of these cards, used rivatuner and unlocked the other 4 pipes and the 6th vertex shader and played doom3 for a while with no problems. i highly recommend this deal if you're looking for a powerful video card at a good price.

So I count 2 people getting this thing to ring up as $269. Anyone else? Man, that'd be a pretty good deal. After rebate, it'd be a few bucks more than the CompUSA deal, but you get 2 free games, and those are definitely 2 that I want. Plus you get the extra speed and the warranty.

This may be really good if it works. I may have to go over at lunch tomorrow and see what happens. I tried adding both in my shopping cart online and it stayed at the $299 price.

Edit: Also, any more info on that AmEx gife cert deal? Also wonder if this can be used with a gamer card for another $5 off.

Do you guys know anything about the Artic Silencers? I like my PC pretty quiet and these fans scare me alittle. Can you install the Artic cooler, and then reinstall the stock cooler if you need warranty work, without anyone knowing?

Also, a little OT, but I've read a little about the new ATI x800 coming out in January. There's suppose to be a $259 card (x800XL or x800Pro or something?) that competes with the 6800NY very nicely, and possibly even offers a pretty nice preformance increase. I know there's always something to wait for......darnit. Tough call. I don't really need a new card, my Quadro plays most of the stuff I want (for now) just fine, but dang, I hate to pass up on a deal like this. I guess something else will always come up later, huh? Probably for even cheaper....

My sales clerk didn't do this at first - I HAD TO ASK HER, "Are there any other discounts for this card"?? She pushed a button on the reigster and goes, "Oh yes, there IS an additional 10% off!!"

If I hadn't have mentioned it to her, I WOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN THE EXTRA 10 %!

Ask for it (the 10% discount), if you buy, people. You have been warned.

So the final tally is:

BFG OC - $299.99
Less 10% - $(30.00)

GROSS Cost: - $324.98
