i just got back from purchasing my combo. I am about to install it. I too got the same 10% off the video card with the game. I also used the extra $20 off $200, but I think it screwed the pricing of it all up though. So for those who plan to use it... beware. Now i have to go back and get it all squared away.

I thought about this too. Wouldn't the 10% discount give you the same probability of not getting your rebate as the $20 off $200 would? I guess that the only sure way to get the rebate is to pay full price and to ask them NOT to deduct the 10% off the card.

There was another question about BB price matching... BB will only pricematch if the store is in your city and they will not match online prices. Just FYI...

THANKS OP!!! I've been jonesin for hl2 but not wanting to spend the bucks. got the card for $270 + hl2 for $55 + 8% tax (!); going to go back to the store to try to apply the $20 off $200 after work. either way i'll ebay the card (already have a pny 6800gt), looks like it's going for around $250 - $270, after the mir i get hl2 for free or a profit!

btw, does anyone know how the 6800gt compares to the 6800?

I bought this a few days ago. Is there any policy i could print up that says they must honor rebates retroactively? Since when is that their policy? I think if anything were to happen, they would just deduct $20 from the rebate

1gb of Kingston Valuram pc2700@3200
cpu:memory 4:5 divider with 160fsb:200mhz
2 x160gb hdd on HPT 374 each is master
Audigy 2
9700 pro 128mg

19in Envision 9110 LCD 25ms response rate with DVI

I went and purchased a Nvidia BFG 6800 OC 128mg videocard..on the best buy deal...mine has a check mark on the PCB and no A60 sticker and may unlock to 16p,6p...but may too and OC is anybody's guess

My question is given my LCD response rate of 25ms is it worth having this card...I can play games generally pretty smooth at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 with some of the details turned down.. like 2xaa, 8xAF, med textures etc...it is game dependent
I would prefer to play at 1280x1024x60(only setting dvi allows)

what do you gurus think

card isnt that loud once I load into windows. i think it might be temperature controlled.
I was gonna return the card if it didnt unlock fully and oc so well.. but everything unlocked and ocs like a champ...close to 400/900.

This is a great deal. Went from 1578 3Dmarks03 with my geforce ti 4200 to 9090 marks...and i havent even tinkered with the clock settings/extra pipes etc....

I guess you think you will get alot of motion blur becasue of the sow response time? IF so, i guess what i would do is pop in a fast-action dvd like the matrix and see how it respones. The ms rating is from black to white, and is often misleading. I would think if it works with your old card this would probably work

I was thinking to try that coupon, but decided not to risk messing up a $105 rebate.

I bought mine from the Roseville, MN location on 12-02. They had a few left on the shelf when I left. The 10% didn't apply til late in checkout. The cashier didn't know anything about it, and ended up hitting some button to finalize the purchase, then it went through. I was just about to pay full price too!

I don't plan to overclock mine. Don't need to, it's a good card as it is. Definately improves the detail of World of Warcraft!

Is there any way to get a better idea if a card can be softmodded? I saw two on the shelf at my BB yesterday and one box had the green lower right corner advertising the box included software demos or something and one box did not. I was wondering which one was the older box since that card would probably have a higher chance of being unlockeable.

I got in on the black friday deal for the PNY flavor of this card, and have been having issues with it, low 3dmarks (6014 at stock settings) as well as artifacts when opening the pipes and shaders. I don't have HL2 yet. You guys think I should return my PNY and get in on this deal if possible?

Figure I spent $230.00 on this card (haven't sent in the $30.00 rebate yet) and for the same price I can get a better manufacturer, better warranty and HL2 for the same price.

DO NOT use the $20 coupon. It will not combine with the automatic 10% at the register.

I read through my entire rebate information last night and it did not say anywhere that it could not be combined with other offers or discounts. The only thing it says is that the rebate will be void if you receive a price match. Another thing is at the bottom of my receipt it says, "Qualifying Rebates" and the $105 rebate is listed under there.

I saved a copy of all of my rebate information, just in case they try to screw me over. (I used both the 10% and the $20 off $200)



I'm just interested in knowing if other people's rebate forms say anything about not being able to combine it with other offers or discounts.

Does anyone know if the v.card's capacitors are multi-colored (green,purp,etc.) would that be a tell the card is NOT unlockable?
