That window is big enough for me so I'll go for it. Hopefully the sound activated light will nicely with the 2 blue LED fans I ordered from Buy.com.
ok just a little confused... are these full or not... some say yes to full, others no.

I'll post it here so the guys that had the problems don't have to bother.

I believe this company is fine as long as you don't need to return anything. Should that become neccessary you will most likely have problems. Most say things like I can't understand a word they say on the phone or even if you make them understand it's hard to get them to take anything back. this is all hearsay on my part.. "from what I have read here"

Personally a friend of mine ordered a blue aluminum case with no window.. the same week they were having window installation free.
he was shipped a case with a window. Called them the guy refused to take it back and said the window was free.. my buddies like NO you don't understand.. I DID NOT ORDER A WINDOW... still they refused to take it back. He's not too worried about it.. but caution should be applied when dealing with them. Usually a call to cc company will help.

This is a good deal and personally I would order from them since their prices on Aluminum "1030type" cases is hard to beat. 18 lb's is much better than 30+ hehe.

I've ordered a case from these guys before. Shipping was slow, but that's about the only problem.

It's hard for them to mess up on a case... They take the box, put your name on a label and ship it you.

Is there a plastic cover to close over the front of all the drives? The black case looks good, but it won't if you have all different color drives showing from the front...
How much are the good aluminum ones? Probably too much and then you don't get a good workout lifting your boxes!

Yep, the drives are behind a door.

This is one of the best cases you can buy (Chieftec is OEM Antec). It is large, and so you get excellent cooling. It's also heavy.

A word of warning: this case has excellent air flow in the front (grill-type lower face plate), but since lots of air can get in, lots of sound can get out. That's why your fans might sound a little louder than on your standard (poorly ventilated) case.

Anyone in Canada order one of these? Please PM me if you have, or are able to order from within Canada, and how much extra does it cost?

Another vote for a DARN good case at a good price, just built a pc w/one - round edges, easy off door, built strong enough to stand on. Only complaint is that the m/b tray is not removable and no front usb on this older model.

My two cents...

This case is nice, and has tons of room for expansion. Something like 10 bays, but that's more than I need.

The company is ok. I ordered some Corsair memory when they had it on sale with free shipping for a good $30 less than newegg. Since I didn't check their history until after I ordered (oops), I was pretty worried, but it came through fine. Packaging wasn't too hot, nor was the time it took to get there (~10 days), but like I said, it was a good price.

If a cheap aluminum case is what you want, this place here: MPCParts has some good prices. Skyhawks are about the cheapest alluminum cases you can find. Resellerratings aren't that great, but I can say I've ordered like 2 cases, psu, mobo, and kvm with no trouble at all.

I bought one of these from Newegg - $79 w/ 400w deer PS and full window.

If I remember, it was just under 21' high and I have a hutch with only 20' above my desk. I removed the feet and put felt pads on the bottom I got from Home Depot. It just fits.

It came with two fans in the back and room for two in the front - one of which blows across the hd cage. I put two panaflows up front and can feel the air being pulled into the system. I put in a Epox 8K5A2+ w/ AMD 1600+ cpu and decent hsf. was running at 36 c until I stuck it into the hole on my desk and put the cover on. Now its at 42 c.

Good quality construction, but I did cut my finger pretty bad removing the plastic cover for the cd-rom. The metal plate you remove if you install two cd-roms had sharp edges.

Great case and a great price. Cheaper than Newegg if the service follows through.

...Like I said, it's pretty darn hard for anyone to mess up a case order. The only reason you sometimes need RMA's on case is because of the power supply, and this case comes without a power supply. Also, I suggest you use AMEX to buy the case, so if you do have to RMA and pay return shipping, you can send the case to AMEX.

BTW, don't skimp on your power supply, use the money you saved on this case to get a good, heavy power supply.

Anyone who has received this case...is this a steel or the aluminum version? I need to know that before I order myself one.

One more: The $20 power supply no good? I have a 300 one which the fan for the power supply died out on me.

Case Dimensions: 20.6" x 8.1" x 18.6" (H/W/D)
Drive bays: 10
Front accesible 4x 5.25, 2x 3.5" Internal 4x 3.5"
Expansion Slots: 3 Short 4 Full Length

this is the steel version they have the aluminum version on the site but it cost's more and the PSU is manditory. the 420 turbo link is not "no good" and it is actualy rather heavy. this is a very reliable PSU and the dual fan's help keep your case cool. some people are brand x only, and thats fine for them but don't bag on a perfectly good product. and just because you had a completely different part die doesn't have anything to do with this. i can find hundreds of people who have had a PSU from every brand out there die because it happens. parts randomly fail and just because brand x never faild on you doesn't meen its any better than brand y that did once upon a time. newegg sells tons of the cheiftec case's with this same PSU and i've yet to read a complaint on it.

if your going to make a blanket statement that nobody should buy something at least try to be informed first. the only parts i've had fail on me so far where an ASUS mobo and a Creative sound card, that doesn't mean they're crap i was just unlucky.

I was going to jump on this, but it looks like this company really blows if you get a dented product or have to RMA... I have really bad luck with things gettting damaged in shipping, so im going to pass. Also, I could swear that I saw these for around the same price somwhere recently with front USB

damn, I just spent $60 on a red 5 button optical mouse from Alienware last night and today my 4 Antec colored case fans( thanks hot deals) came in.

But I have a black cheiftec that I put a zantac window w/120mm fan in. Then I bought a blue one a month later. So if the wife saw another one she might kill me.

I can hide little fans and mouse sized boxes but a case box is a little hard to run up the stairs with before getting seen.

bockchow, chill!!! This is an excellent case and you gave great info about dimensions, etc.

The Turbolink PSU is okay for most people, but if you are the type who has a system that's on 24/7, or if you are an overclocker, put the money you saved towards a high quality PSU. This is from personal experience -- I have the Turbolink and it does not compare to a high quality unit.

Here are some of my observations:
- A yank on the main wires to the mobo could easily break the pcb;
- The mobo lead is short (you might crack the pcb in the PSU without knowing it if you tug too hard).
- The Turbolink's fans are noisy when compared to high quality PSU's (the resonance in this large case will magnify the noise); and
- There is a power dip when running Prime95.

Don't be a fool John... front usb is worthless... if you really want it bad just mod your case. Its not worth the extra $20 to fork over...

i'm sorry if i made it seem like i was trying to intimidate people into shareing my opinion because that wasn't my intention. it was actualy just the opposite, i just wanted people to have an open mind.

if you need a better PSU than this you already know that so what people say here shouldn't apply to you. if you want a decent PSU but can't or won't spend $90 on an enermax this is a realy good choice

Wow. I was going to jump on this a couple weeks ago when I saw ActiveX mention it over on the Cases forum, but I couldn't get any input as to their service, and their reseller rating didn't look so hot (it was the first company I'd ever checked there). I don't remember it having front USB. Had I known, I'd have gone for it despite the RR. As it is, I bought this for $49. I wanted blue, but it wasn't worth another $10. These cases all look great and I've never seen anything bad about them. Now I just have to sit and wait. (Still waiting for Directron to ship my case!)
