I knew a deal on this item was already going to be posted on here when I found it on a different "techbargains dot net " deal site. Anyway, before I read the "FREE" way here, I took a different creative approach to hopefully make ~$6 on this item:
a) Ordered 2 routers @ $28.76
b) Applied the "$15 off of $50" coupon
c) Applying for 1 $20 MIR when the routers arrive
d) Returning one of the routers to my local OD after my order arrives
$28.76 (router1) + $28.76 (router2) - $15 CPN - $20 MIR - $28.76 (returned router) = -$6.24
(plus sales tax on 1 router @ $28.76 - $15 CPN = $13.76 taxable amount)
Now.. the routers were NOT IN STOCK in my area; however, somebody posted interesting OD information the other day on a different thread (don't recall which one, otherwide I'd post a link):
You can search for items in other ZIP CODES (in a different state for example) to get OD's web-site to check inventory in other OD warehouses. I was only able to get this trick working on the NEW/PREVIEW OD web-site (
link). The upper right hand corner of this site has a link for "Change Zip," making it easy for you to check other zip codes! Anyway, once you find the item in a particular ZIP CODE and have added it to your cart, when you go to check out:
1) DO NOT LOG IN USING YOUR EXISTING OD ACCOUNT. Fill in the ORDER FORM w/ your BILLING/SHIPPING information instead. (This is a feature of the NEW OD web-site -- no need to create an account before ordering)
2) Make sure you punch in your "$15 off $50" COUPON CODE at the bottom of the order form (and then UPDATE the order so that it takes)
After the order's been placed, you have the option of creating a new user account using the info you just entered. It's your choice if you want to create such an account. Your existing username (on the OLD/CURRENT OD web-site) may not be used (as it already exists).
P.S. In step 'd' above, when I return the 2nd router, I'm banking on getting the full $28.76 price back. This may not happen though if OD's system is similar to OfficeMax's. I tried pulling a similar trick @ OfficeMax not too long ago. When I returned items to OM on an order (for multiple items) in which a discount coupon was applied, a %age of my discount was removed (corresponding to the item's $ amount as a %age of the total order's total $ amount). Basically, if OD does what OM does, I'll lose $7.50 of my $15 discount -- thus bringing the router cost up to a whopping $1.26!!! :Q
*EDIT* In step 2 above, I initially had it listed as a "16 digit" coupon code. It doesn't have to be 16 digits.
