Confirming the serial number trick..ie, 12 digit all numbers = Lite-On.
Atleast in my case.

I called office max and they said use the Rebate Reciept printout. You should have gotten 2 printouts (original + rebate reciept). Use the small rebate one.

Same here. I just checked my order status. I ordered on-line right after the item showed up. My order was schduled to be shipped on March 25. I guess the warehouse is out of stock now. They will restock late this week, then ship my order.

well a courier just rolled up as I was unloading my CC haul (BE500 APC 500va UPS $10 after rebates..thanks allisolm ) and I open it up to find a Teac W524e..according to cdrinfo(link back <--that away) its middle of the road but slow at ripping some "things" but SD2 capable but .. slow at it tho . I guess it can stay for a lil while. Teac = Sanyo's BURN-Proof. Yep...Luck of the Draw on these rebadgers.

I got mine today and it's an Acer (bummer!). Luckily, I checked with my local OM and they still have a few boxes with 12 digit sn#. I'll be going there later today to swap this Acer.

This may sound nuts but I still remember paying $1,200 for a Sony 1x SCSI burner many years ago when they first came out. About a year later I upgraded to a 2x and then a year after to a 4x2x24 (which I still have and still use). I didn't bother upgrading for a few years because I got sick of paying premiums for new speeds. I really didn't plan on getting another CD-RW (got my eye on DVD burners) but $35 for a decent 24x10x40.......can't pass that up!

My drive came in today also and is an Acer. I'm sticking with it as I don't live near an OfficeMax. It is quite a bit faster than my Yamaha 4x. Date of manufacture was Jan, 2002 and the latest firmware was already loaded. Came with Nero software, however I'm sticking with Easy CD Creator which I just updated to 5.1.

Acer for me as well (just like the last Cendyne deal). I'll accept it. However, I didn't receive my $.29 cents worth of paper clips (58 total - scattered in the box). As for the Polaroid fiasco, I did receive the Top-G drive. Call me crazy, but I'm keeping it. It's in a system that'll be seldomly used, so I'm sure it'll last for a while. Used it to install Windows XP, and experienced no problems. Haven't tried burning with it yet. Enough of CDRW's, now it's time for DVD burner deals (something I'm in the market for).

You're crazy! LOL, Remember the CenDyne drive cost $10 less than the Polaroid BTC drive. I would exchange it for the CenDyne drive. Which ever mfg drive you got from CenDyne would be 100% better than the BTC drive.

I just got email confirmation on my cendyne I ordered a month ago. It looks kinda funny asking me to take a 20 dollar rebate instead of a 40 dollar rebate. I called (rebatesHq) and the guy said that the 40 dollar rebate was in their system and I would get it in a few weeks.

I just received the drive from omax and I got an acer. called around and found a liteon and exchanged it. Great Deal.
For anyone not getting a liteon, try costco, the st louis park,mn costco had 15 cendyne liteons on monday, Check your costco, you can buy one there and then exchange your omax one with this and then return the omax one to costco . Just an idea!

Serial number appears to be an Acer.

..will probably end up keeping it and using it for a build for a friend, but will hold off a day and check other stores (Costco) to see if they have any LiteOns
