(DEAD) CenDyne 24x10x40 $69.99 & CenDyne 16x DVD-ROM $49.99 = 119.98 - $20 rebate - $25 off $100 OfficeMax coupon = $74.98.

If you want to buy the CenDyne 24x drive or the CenDyne DVD drive separately, use the Staples $10 off $40 printable coupon, final cost $39.99 or the office Depot $15 off $50 printable coupon, final cost $34.99
Add another item and use the Staples $30 off $150 printable coupon.

To try to use the on-line coupon in the store, print-out the $25 off $100 coupon page or print the page showing the price of the drive with the $25 coupon discount taken off the price, then take that to your local store, and tell your one of those friendly OfficeMax managers that you were going to buy the drive on-line, but you would perfer to buy it from him and would he honor the $25 coupon, so you can purchase the drive from him. This has worked many time before, for a number of poeple, but it up the to manager to decide to honor the $25 coupon or not.

Sounds like a deal! I could only find the coupon for 1st time buyers @ OfficeMax.com. Is this the coupon to which you are referring? All the others appear to be some kind of discount code with no printable document. My plan is to will-call @ B+M.

OfficeMax will accept coupons from other office supplies stores like Staples and Office depot, so does Office Depot, but Staples does not accept coupons from other stores.

I picked up a 16x10x?? with S/N staring sith "ACA". Any idea what it is?

I'd open the box and look; but with the 24x10x40 coming out so cheap, I'll just return it and hope to get a 24x Lite-on.

Thanks for any clues you can give.

DON'T OPEN IT! It's an Accesstek drive, although it is 16x12x40, the support of CloneCD and its reliability is unknown. If it's anything like the Acer drives, it WILL ruin half the CDs that u burn. Of course, it could be a reliable manufacturer that makes quality drives like LiteOn, but when I ordered online and an Accesstek arrived, I took no chance and immediately phoned around to find a Liteon to exchange it for. that's just my .02, u can take a chance, but it's a 50/50.

Thanks jackywebdesign.

Luck was on my side today. Went to an Officemax in the middle of nowhere here in Phoenix -- of course, _Phoenix_ is in the middle of nowhere -- and scored a 24x LiteOn. The 'associate' first told me that someone had just recently cleaned them out of the 12-digit S/N models (selfish jerk....); but he took the time to look and found one in a corner.

Thanks, Brian!!!! (I immediately cornered the manager and told him Brian walked on water.)

Never underestimate the power of politeness, no matter how stupid the guy's multi-colored hair looks....

MysticMan1: I can only find coupons for the online store or coupons that state that they must be original, no copies or facsimilies. I copied as many coupons I could find and went to OfficeMax. The manager told me what that the coupons that need to be originals will not be honored because they are not originals. The online coupons will not be honored because his isn't an online store, he informed me that the items I was interested in are not available from the online store at this time (I already knew that), and when they become available online, they may in fact be more expensive than now in-store, even with the coupon. Has anyone had a similar experience, or is this guy just being a dick?

Since I don't know what coupons you try to use I can't say any about that, but if you took a print out of the on-line coupon page to the store to use it is up to the store manager if he want to accept a on-line coupon or not. The deal doesn't start until sunday so I don't know why you would go to the store today, but if there is another OfficeMax store near you wait until Sunday to see how it looks on-line or try another store.

Also turn on your PM (private messenger)

MysticMan1: I wanted to see if the coupons would be honored by my local store (it is much easier to speak with the manager when the store is not packed with customers). The coupons were from your, or some other MysticMan1, post on FW. BTW, the store manager did say he would give me the sale price today. So, I guess he's not a bad guy. The rebate is for sales dated between 3/31/02-4/28/02.

No! they are not all Lite-on mfg drives. Maybe someone who owns a rebadged Lite-on DVD-ROM drive from CenDyne can post the information on the outside of the box.

The sale on the CenDyne CD-RW (Item # 20076846) and DVD-ROM (Item # 20148190) has started early, both items are now on the web site with the new reduced prices. Hurry! before they change their minds and remove they from the site.

Manager at the Melbourne store would not check the serial #'s for me. He told me that the people on the internet are not always right and not to believe what I read. Honestly, he really wouldn't check... claimed they didn't have the 12 digit serial # ones in stock.

So, either he gets hounded by this all the time or he didn't care to make a sale.

What other B&M stores stock these at a decent price (and have them on the shelves where I can check) ???

Forget the manager ask one of the employee to take a look for the drive you want or try another store if you can.
The CenDyne 24x is only on sale with the $20 rebate at OfficeMax.

It is possible to uses on-line officeMax coupons in their stores, here's how.

What you can do is print-out the $25 off $100 coupon page or print the page showing the price of the drive with the $25 coupon discount taken off the price, then take that to your local store, and tell your one of those friendly OfficeMax managers that you were going to buy the drive on-line, but you would perfer to buy it from him and would he honor the $25 coupon, so you can purchase the drive from him. This has worked many time before, for a number of poeple, but it up the to manager to decide to honor the $25 coupon or not.
