Just got through having the wife order it for me.

CSR went away after giving the coupon code, but allowed us to use it. No scan required .

Since the web site hasn't been updated yet from last weeks sales I'm not going to say that the 32x CenDyne drive will not be sold on-line. No where in the weekly ad does it say in stores ONLY.

Of course if you want to to buy it in the store the way it can be done is by printing-out the page with a $25 off $100 coupon on it, and take that to your local store, and tell your one of those friendly OfficeMax managers that you were going to buy the drive on-line, but they not have the CenDyne "32x on the web site and would he honor the $25 coupon, so you can purchase the drive from him. This has worked many times before, for a number of poeple, but it up the to manager to decide to honor the $25 coupon or not.

Also don't use the $25 coupon code that expires on Mar. 24, it does seem to be working. use one of the code that expires on Apr. 21.

I just had the same experience. The less-than-helpful (and hard of hearing) sales rep wanted a fax as well. I will try again later!

I have just purchased one (Long Island, NY) it has a 16MB buffer and a serial number that looks like this:

CR-123ATE12345A12QH1234

Does anyone know who made it?

The 16mb buffer drives are the Mitsumi 32x drives. I have posted a review of the drive and also a head to head comparison of the Lite-on and Mitsumi 32x drives at the beginning of this thread. It's a good drive.

Edit: pHaestus, is that serial nmuber on the outside of the box ? Also did it say "ExacLink technology" on the box?

To be honest I left the drive there because they wouldn't honor the online coupon code without a printout of the original (which I didn't have ). The box clearly said 16mb buffer on it, and I cannot recall whether it said exaclink or not. If someone can produce the coupon page via PM I will go buy one and provide more details

I just bought the 24x drive back in January

32x is not really needed at all, although still good for a nice drive.

I ended up the a mitsumi 24x burner, I wish I had the Lite-On instead, but I guess thats just the luck of the draw.

Still waiting on that rebate for that drive too

The serial number I reported IS on the outside of the box on a label on the back with the specs and is barcoded. Nowhere on the box does it say "Exact Link Technology".

It does say: "New Vibration Absorption Technology (VAST) to reduce vibration and noise".

I have not yet opened the box.

Actually, The serial number begins with "CR-480ATE......." which is the Mitsumi model number.

They just don't have the site updated yet. They do this every week. They advertise specials starting Sunday and then you can't find it on-line until late afternoon.

I wonder if anyone has called customer service to say "Hello!?!?! Is anybody maintaining the web site???"

The 32X Cendyne picked up this morning in Minnesota was Lite-On. Said right on it. All numerical serial number.

I exchanged the 24x Acer I got earlier in the week on line with the discount, so I paid $10 more and will get back $10 less.

I was not able to get the Acer to work on my Athlon/Via system without locking it up or making coasters. I tried DMA/No DMA slave/master nothing worked.

The lite on worked great first time/ DMA mode 32x burn no problems.

It looks like the CenDyne 32x drive will not be on the OfficeMax.com web site (I hate it when they do that.Grrrr).

So, What you can do is print-out the page with a $25 off $100 coupon on it, and take that to your local store, and tell your one of those friendly OfficeMax manages that you were going to buy the drive on-line, but they do not have the CenDyne 32x drive on the web site and would he honor the $25 off $100 coupon, so you can purchase the drive from him. Also you can try calling in your order at 800-283-7674. option 1, (SKU#20146450), tell them you want to use a $25 off $100 coupon from a web page link you received in a email. if they may ask you for the link, so be ready to give it to them.

People were using a $25 off coupon code, but the CS rep have stared asking people fax a copy of the coupon to then or give a copy to the OfficeMax delivery driver, one guy told CS rep he deleted the coupon but booked marked the link for the offer and the CS rep had him read the coupon link and they accepted the coupon.
Maybe giving the OfficeMax delivery driver a print-out of the $25 coupon page will also be acceptable, as long as them give you the $25 off when you place your order.

Just got back from Brooklyn, NY store. They wouldn't let me use the $25 off $100 but they had plenty of 12 digit serial number boxes. Opened mine up, Lite-On label on the top. Didn't even try to cover it.

Just got off the phone with CSR, turned out the coupon that was meant to expire today was expired already.
She just entered another one for me without me mentioning the code #, I guess she got lots of calls today regarding that order.
I just called and said I wanted to order and she asked, "Is it the Cendyne CD-RW item # 2014645 you want to order?"
Saved me alot of trouble.
Anyway, she told me I have to show the driver the coupon physically, or else the $25 will be billed back to the credit card.
Can they do that?

Yup I just called and got a different CSR person. The drive is slated to be delivered on the 26th, and they said I would have to show a printout of the coupon. I am hoping that the page on the Officemax site is sufficient otherwise I guess I get stuck with a rather lukewarm deal.

Try ordering by phone using a coupon link or code, if you score a drive by phone you can return one of them to the store.

Got mine at 3:30 this morning... Jeff, the very nice CSR, worked with me for a while trying to get my Gift Card to work. Coupon went through just fine -- $90.09 after tax delivered Tuesday!

I went ahead and bought a Lite-On at my B&M, just to be sure.
