<< Don't see the CenDyne 32x12x40 on the OfficeMax website....
Guess you won't be able to use the $25 off coupon...
>>

I can't find it either, will the drive be listed on the website on the 24th or is there some way to redeem the $25 coupon in person?

<< Spanky, I don't think it would work because I would be credited for the the price of the 24x, less the discount. The "difference" would be much more than the $20 difference between both retail prices. >>

can't u return it and say u do not have the reciept? well... when i say return, i mean exchange. in that case, wouldn't they just credit u what the current sticker price is and u'd owe the difference for the 32x? i guess its not important since u got the goods already but i thought maybe it'd be helpful for potential future deals.

Well, I did the 24x deal but they only had acer drives. Since the general concensus is that the acer is a piece of dung, I returned and picked up the 32x drive today. He felt sorry for me so he sold it to me for $99 before the rebate......my drive is a verbatim (rebadged liteon) that performs flawlessly......it smoked out a disc in under 4 minutes as I was surfing the net without even a hiccup. While I was there I noticed that they had 50pk spindles of Spin X brand 32x 80 min cdrs for 19.99 with a $15 mail-in rebate. Not sure if this qualifies for a hot deal, but they burn fine at 32x in my new drive.....

Those 32x Spin-X CDRs 50 pack you bought for $4.99 AR will be on sale next week for $6.99 AR for the 100 pack. For what it's worth when I searched for the rebate form for the 32x Spin-X CDRs at OM it was listed under the name "Imation 32x Spin-X CDRs".

This is interesting (got it from cdrinfo.com).

(Verbatim 40X and 32X CD Burners available now

Verbatim 40x10x48 and 32x10x40 CD-RW drives are available for purchase now at leading technology retailers across the U.S. including Staples. Renowned for their quality and reliability, the Verbatim 40x10x48 and 32x10x40 CD-RW drives provide fast write and rewrite speeds, along with a complete software bundle for consumers who want an easy-to-use, advanced solution for storing data, video, music and photos.
) Link

Maybe now they will start offering support and firmware upgrades for their drives.

They now have the 32x12x40 drive on their web site. Link to 32x

Even more interesting is they also have a 48x12x48x Verbatim drive there too. Link to 48x drive

Is it reasonable to assume that the verbatim drives can be firmware updated to lite-on's in a similar fashion as the 24x10x40's?

Renthal, You know what you make of u and me when you assume? While it is true that the Verbatim 24x drives have been LiteOn rebadges, or at least the ones mentioned on this site, there is no guarantee that Verbatim will continue to use LiteOn as their manufacturer-of-choice. It is kind of like buying a Cendyne burner. It says Cendyne on the box, but it is a mystery what you will find inside. It could also become a mystery what name is under the Verbatim label on the drive. If BTC or Acer or another manufactuer made Verbatim a better deal than LiteOn, then Verbatim may change their source to maximize profits. We can hope that this doesn't happen, though.

Well it comes down to this: Do not attempt to flash the firmware of your CenDyne-Verbatim drive until you peel back the Verbatim sticker on the drive and find a Lite-On sticker underneath it. No assumptions made. Verify!

Anyone have an idea on how to flash the Verbatim 32x12x40 drive over to a Liteon?? Not sure how to do it and I don't really want to screw my drive up...

Just returned from Canton, MI OM with my LiteOn. It was still priced @ $129.99 on the computer, but they sold it to me for the sale price of $109.99.

Will buy another online using $25 off coupon & return after it arrives Tuesday.

The sale on the CenDyne 32x drive doesn't start until Sunday. The drive should show up on the web site sometime after midnight (est). last week they run out of stock on-line of the on sale CenDyne 24x drive by 3:00 pm Sunday. So if you plan to purchase one get it early.
The SKU# is at the beginning of this thread.

I went to the store Sat to see if there were any Lite-On's. They only had one in stock and it had a serial number like CW480ATExxxxxxxxxxxx. Maybe it was a Mitsui like Lark described.

When are they putting it on their website???

Ok, here is a strange twist. I just called (Sunday, 12:32 AM) OM to try to order this drive, and I was told that this was $179.99! Do the prices vary by region? I was asked for my zip code. I will try again later...

I just got off the phone. I was able to place two orders with one drive in each order (my bro wants one).
109.99 - 25.00 (coupon) + tax = 91.79 - 30 (rebate) = 61.79

Thanks for the great deal!!!

BTW: The CSR mentioned this was not a regular deal on the website but I could order it from the warehouse!?!? He "knew" I was going for this cdrw before I mentioned it!

Also the SKU: 20146450

CoBRaXT: you need to turn on PM (like I did earlier today)
