Well I picked up my Cendyne / Lite-on LTR32123S this afternoon. I had a hell of a time getting it out of those OM weasels. I picked up a few of the freebies and went to the checkout to ask for the CDRW. The cashier checks with one of the techy guys and comes back and says they are out. I start complaining about how they are always out of this type of sale stuff and it had only been a few hours since they opened. Then I asked to speak to the manager. I start complaining to him and ask him how many they had in stock. He said two, one was sold when they opened and the other was on hold for a call in. I kept complaining to the manager that this happens all the time and I wanted one of those drives. The techy guy goes over to the computer terminal and pecks at it a little then turns around and smiles and says they have a bunch in the back (surprise, surprise). So he goes back into the lockup room and brings out a CDRW. I checked the SN and found it was one of the Mitsumis with the 16MB buffer. I thought for a moment then decided to ask if he had any with a 12 digit serial number. I explained to him about Cendyne repackaging other manufactures and why I was looking for the 12 digit SN. Well, he goes back into the lockup room and, low and behold, he comes out with a box with a 12 digit SN. So I decided to get the Lite-on instead of the mitsumi. That 16MB buffer sure looked nice though. So I start checking out and gave the cashier my Stapes $15 off $75. They say they could not accept it. Said it was in their "policy". Gave me some cr@p about not being able to apply other coupons to items that have rebates and are on sale. I asked to see the policy and the manager could not find it (surprise, surprise). I told him I would call corporate tommorrow. I did find on the Officemax.com website they they, the .com, accept other coupons but it does not say anything about the B&M policy.
I'm going to call corporate tommorrow anyway cause of the cr@p they pulled with the no stock and not letting me use the Staples coupon. This is the same store that I caught a few months ago hiding sale items behind the front counter and telling customers they were out of that item. I was the last customer to check out on a Sunday night and saw it with my own eyes. :Q
