I got the Staples OOS e-mail yesterday, but according to the Staples site my order is still sitting there being "processed" with delivery still projected for January 27th. If it isn't delivered on this date, I'll start inquiring as to where the order is and pretend like I never got the OOS e-mail. It is worth a try. As far as I am concerned they never officially cancelled the order.

I got the dreaded cancellation e-mail yesterday. Printed out my order history showing the 50 off coupon code, and had no problem getting the drive at the Staples in Phoenix, AZ near 7th and Bell Rd(next to Walmart). I think I got the last one though.
On a sidenote, the store was completely empty of employees except for one stockboy and the store manager who was running the only open register...maybe that's how Staples made a profit last quarter.

My brother ordered this drive and it got canceled due to backorder. When did they cancel orders due to backorder! Staples really needs some help. They have treated there customers like garbage and refuse to fix it. My personal account must of been blacklisted since all my orders regardless of what I order seem to disappear. Heck when I contact there support they claim I don't have an order yet my order history shows that I've ordered it. I'm gonna tell my bro to try and get a local store to honor a print out. I'll let you know if he has any luck. I personally will choose to spend my money at Office Depot or OfficeMax. They at least treat you as a customer. Heck last time Officemax went out of the way and ordered an out of stock burner for me. Good Luck to you on your orders.

i got the backorder and cancellation email also. Ridiculous. Staples screwed me again with this and the s30 which I still have not recieved. I emailed to tell them to keep the order open and ship it to me when it is in stock. they replied that I have to open a new order.

now that is poor business.

Just a quick question to those who are registering their rebates through www.staplesrebates.com. Do you send the original or rebate receipt that printed along with the Cendyne rebate?

bad dealings with staples. I'm all for officedepot + max from now on. staples is too anal/annoying

ok i got mine, but i got a receipt? in the box it says this is not an invoice on it, is this what i mail in as my receipt? pls help someone tell me what to use as a receipt, the paper that says "this is not an invoice" is the only thing that came in the box with my dvd burner, thanks in advance--- chris

On Sunday 1/19, I went to staples.com and entered the drive and the $50 off coupon. On a whim, I took the printed cart to B&M and asked the manager if I could do the deal there. He said no problem. Got mine for $150 after rebate.

When I opened the package at home, the volume knob on the drive was crammed back into the drive and the drive door looked totally misaligned and definetly like it was jammed against its recess. I took it back and swapped it for the last one on the shelf. Opened that one in the parking lot and it looked fine. To my surprise, this one had several discs in it. One blank media and some software. The first one had NO discs. The first one was factory sealed even!!

i called staples about that and they said to send in that slip that says (this is not an invoice), its not a invoice because you allready paid for.
in essence it is a sales receipt.

i went out and got mine tuesday,it is the 4x cendyne, price was 269.00 - 40.00 instant and 50 mail in rebate so from office max, i got it for 179.00, that aint bad, i bought some fuji film dvd-r's,and iam gonna practice for awhile with the dvd-rw blank it came with .now i need to find out how to burn these damn things.

I guess you purchased yours at a Staples B&M. Anyway, use the REBATE Receipt -- that's what it's there for. For those who order on-line, if the terms of the rebate form allow for a COPY OF THE RECEIPT, send a COPY OF THE 8 1/2 x 11 "THIS IS NOT AN INVOICE" LANDSCAPE printed receipt in w/ your rebate. Otherwise, if you need to send an ORIGINAL, I recommend calling up Staples and ask that they mail you another "original" copy for rebate purposes. BTW, I've never seen a true Staples rebate offer REQUIRE an ORIGINAL RECEIPT.

While Staples sucks for canceling backorders (including mine on this deal), their rebate processing is IMO incredible! I've gotten two rebate checks from them within 3 weeks of mailing them! (Those rebates were mailed to a PO BOX in Miami, FL).

Staples is really starting to get me quite aggrivated. The last 2 times I've ordered from them, they have modified my order without my permission (substituting an "equivalent" item for reasons that they cannot explain to me), and both times, when I tried getting the item I ACTUALLY ordered sent to me, it had just became OOS. This is borderline ethical, if you ask me...

So I guess I get to wait for the next DVD-R hot deal...

i don't always bite but bump on this deal as i really need tonconvet our home movies to dvd.

i just got mine at omax b&m and they had plenty of the 4x model. funny thing is the pull tag was on a 2x box on the floor. i also called ahead to talk to the mgr about using the 50 off 250 online coupon. he had no problem so don't be shy. all i said was could i print out the entry page which comes up after you hit the link in "your" email promo. also don't forget to get something to throw you over 250 or use the 40 off 200. i also had printed the list of weekly in store deals and made sure the cashier applied my 40 off instant rebate at checkout.

i haven't gone extensively over the hardware forums listed above but how are we sure this is a rebadged pioneer?

Absolutely positive. It says "Pioneer 105" on the drive itself. Some Cendyne boxes have a sticker that says "made by Pioneer".
