Careful, Staples rebates often have very limited valid dates. It may well be valid only for the two day sale or week sale period.

They also have the 4x DVD-R available...don't leave without 'em. The rep was not able to find the 2x DVD-RW.
Got so excited I forgot to ask what brand, but I was in yesterday to get a drive (they were out) and they carried Maxell & Memorex as I recall.

The Valid Purchase Dates to qualify for the $50 rebate Cendyne DVD-R/RW 4X Drive will not start until after 12:01 AM Sunday.

Staples has a deal on Maxell DVD-R and DVD-RW... $9.94 AR for 5 pack of DVD-R or 3 pack of DVD-RW. I almost added a bunch to my order of the DVD Writer, but then I realized I can make another order and apply a coupon! (Although it might have cause trouble getting the rebate)

btw, my cousin has done a lot of DVD burning with the 2x Pioneer drive. He told me that he had a lot of problems with the "cheapo" media, it is best to get the commercial brands like Maxell, TDK, etc. It is kind of like when the CD burners first came out, and the cheapo media really sucked. It should get better eventually... but a did read a few other posts by someone who had good luck with the cheapo media (25 for $44.95)... YYMV

What time zone do you think it has to be? Whatever time zone you are actually in? Or maybe Eastern?

*edit* Do you guys think it's safe to try and use a $50 off 200? I heard they are blacklisting people who try to use them. Just a rumor?

Ordered one; lady told me to call tomorrow about the $50 rebate. I printed out a page showing the price today. If the rebate doesn't go thru, I can always ask them to adjust the price.

Firstly, bump for MM1.

I got in on the previous deal and today drove in the last nail on the coffin on this one.
Presale acquisition:
-$299.98 (Staple Retail)
-$209.00 (Fry?fs match)
-$19.99 (DVD-RW, 3/Pk) {ooh, should have been $14.99 w/ $5.00 MIR}
-$40.00 (50/200 bones)
-(10%, 110%, loop-t-loop, Tax) Staples funny math.
-$183.91 (Sub Total before $50 MIR.)
$133.91 (Grand Total after MIR)

so let me get this straight i just printed out the fry's ad and on sunday im going into staples and they will price match the $209 then i will get the $60 instant rebate bringing the grand total to $149 then i mail in the rebate for $50 and im only paying $99 for this drive, this got so much hotter now
__________________________________________________________________________

My calculations initially left me in a similar ball park but even with Staples fuzzy math
(which calculations I now understand), this is still a good deal. My only problem
(pressing for less) is with the rebate(s) on these same purchases.
Does any one know if these two Cendyny deals are classified as separate where both rebates will be honored from the same owner? If necessary, I?fd consider (regrouping and) going for a walk-in purchase w/in-store coup, Fry?fs ad, and a little uppercut from AMX.

Again, will both rebates be honored to one customer/same household?

Thanks

************URGENT***************

Hey guys, what's the status of this deal?

In 2 hours, it's going to be February 16 and first thing in the morning I'm going to Staples. I really want to pick up one of these drivers. Can someone brief me about how much I'm going to pay for it?

I'm so confused with all these prices and rebates everyone is throwing around.

Someone please help me. Any rebates/coupons that can't be posted, please send to stisev@rcn.com.

Thanks guys.

I can't find that $40 off $200 anywhere. I've search around the net and at every bargain location I can find.

Little help? Hints?

What area do you live in? I'm in San Diego and I'm not sure if they'll price match the Fry's price of $209 because that's in NorCal only. Price down here in SoCal at Fry's is $229. Would this work better if done over the phone?

OddTsi:

I?fm in NYC, %8.25 tax.

I tested (with respect) the waters with the CSR?fs @ Staples.
I plotted out my figures and information then presented it to them in
hopes they would fold. The key is to get a rep that goes with the flow.
I never ask if it can be done. I present my info as if it?fs par for the course
with all sources(never coup sources) in hopes they don?ft start to sniff.
It sometimes works like yesterday. Took 3 reps and 3 ways to price config
to pull it off as low as $ could go. (Will try polishing this off with a little
jabb & uppercut from AMX "Best Value Guarentee". They sleep at the wheel at
times as well (or simply VERY NICE).

Good luck all.

Going insaaaaaane trying to find these coupons...I've found several of the 40 and 50, but both are expired, as is the 30 off 150. Plus, the link on the site is either not working or has not been updated, because the checkout price of the item is the same.

if anyone can e-mail me the link to a working $40, $50, or $30 coupon, please do! cpucket@austin.rr.com

WHen do you think the WEBSITE will update with the price? I says the price will be 189 .. but when I click on the CHECKOUT.. it still says $299? I hope the 60 Instant Rebate is for ONLINE as well.

I'm gonna go to sleep and try again. Perhaps the online store only updates around the time the B&M store opens....?

I thought they only did system maint. on Sunday night. I'm on the Staples website right now.

Also, if you print the rebate out now from the rebate center, make sure you get the Cendyne rebate that is 4x.

Would we qualify for the rebate if we bought this drive from staples a few weeks ago?

Also, the drive is online now for $239

also, the price online showing $299.98 will NOT change, staples said this is a in-store only deal, if you pay $299.98 now, they will pricematch it later to the circular ad, but dont expect the $299.98 price to drop, it wont.

edit: the rebate is online HERE - makes you wonder if the csr know what there talking about.

it did...
