I ordered mine on Sunday morning using a $40 off of $200 code said estimated arrival date would be 2/19.

Its been in a "Processing" status since then so I was not hopeful for it to go through.
But as of this morning (2/18), it says "Shipped" however my account hasn't been charged and they did not send a "confirmation" email.
So we will see.

I talked with a CS rep who said I should get it today. But, i'm guessing that the individiual merely looked at the order placed date and the next day delivery and is assuming that it will come today.

i'm waiting to purchase a bund of blank DVDs.

Staples is not real fast about charging to your credit card. If I remember correctly, they aren't too good about sending e-mail with shipping information either.

Mine is coming UPS, which is pretty much standard for just about anything from Staples. Even though I have four Staples stores within 10 miles of my house, I have never gotten anything via their "Staples couriers." It has always been UPS.

is that because you dont have any local staples nearby? Mine is listed as coming via Staples Courier. I have a store about 5 minutes away so maybe that is the reason.

I just ordered mine today. Unfortunately, I couldn't ge the $50/$200 coupon code to work, but the $40/$200 DID go thru.

Here's the low-down:

$239.94
-$40 COUPON
=$199.94
+ %8.25 CA tax
=216.43
-$50 MIR
** Free shipping

GRAND TOTAL = $166.43

Not bad for a Pioneer A05 DVD-R/RW drive

Thanks for the heads up guys!

I'd say you did pretty well! a 4x drive writes about 330 MB/min. it can write a typical CD's worth of data in 2 mins.

i only wish my dvd player would play dvd-rw

Just got a phone call from a Staples rep. regarding my order (scroll up to my post dated 2/17) I placed early Sat. morn. She said they have approved the pricematch, and wondered if I still wanted to place the order. I said, "Yes". She said Staples is experiencing some delivery delays regarding this product and the latest I should receive this order is this coming Thurs. She explained Staples was calling everyone who ordered this particular product to let them know about the delay. Well, I'm still not counting my chickens, until this puppy is in my hands.

Can?ft believe this but Staple?fs called me today (unless hoax) confirming
my order # saying that they could not honor the way I configured my purchase on (Saturday) being that Fry?fs often had referbed or returned merchandise therefore they could not honor the PM. I noticed he didn?ft mention anything about the 50/200. CSR gave me the option to cancel my order or purchase it at retail, not even the initial discounts minus the PM.
Does anyone know about Fry?fs merchandise?

Thrown off initially, I cancelled but called back to reverse (database hadn?ft reflected cancellation yet).
It doesn?ft matter to me because they can't renege on the sealed deal on Saturday when my cc # was taken and will just have to take the loss, unless theres a policy I don't know about. Should have done their homework (2 chances) befor accepting.

One word - two different standard. Just like 56KFlex and X2 within 56K modem standard.
That's the best/quickest answer I've heard to that question! Anyway, I picked one up from my local B&M today. I used the $30 off $150. Funny thing was when I was on line to pay, the lady behind the counter was on the phone with somebody who called asking her to one of these on hold and was answering questions about coupons. Well - thanks for another deal guys!

oh yeah, have any interest in splitting a 100pack of dvd-r's with ya? I ordered 100 Ritek G03's and am looking for someone to split them. They'll be in on Friday most likely.

Well, I gave it a couple more try's at another B&M and by phone and both instances were fruitless. The B&M would not return the item first and then do a PM separate. They did one transaction...return item and then PM, giving back difference. Doing so, does not allow the use of any additional coupon. What they've done in the past is to return the item. Then let me repurchase and PM and also use a coupon.

The cust. rep on the phone said that they could not PM Fry's because it had been logged in their PM log as the item being advertised at Fry's is not the same item as what Staples offer (which, is true to a certain degree).

So the best that I could do was about $167 AR. That's what I paid orginally in December.

Staples is cracking down...drat!

Generally frys products are just like everyone else. Alot of the items are new and aren't return. But what I do notice is occasionally sale items atleast at the Brokaw location they only have return items left. HOwever if I drive to fremont I find new boxes. I even order at outpost once and the product came brand new. atleast for me anything I return aren't used at all sometimes I buy it but then decide I don't want it any more.

yet they still open it and put the tag on it. I know one time I bought a dvd drive but then figure I don't need a dvd drive with a dvdrw so I returned the dvd drive brand new unopen. Yet they open it to "check". yeah like I have that machine that makes to yellow/white ties.

this is hearsay, so someone can either back this up or blow my idea out of the water.

What I was told is that Fry's buys batches from manufacturers which don't meet up to the specifications of other retail stores (i.e. they randomly test 10 items and at least 9 of them ust work). Fry's then buys these items are a lower price since no one else wants them. Thats also why their return department is so huge and always packed. Seems to make sense to me.
