(Dead) Cendyne DVD-R/RW 4X Drive (Pioneer) "$149.99" AR & coupon at Staples

i paid $500 plus tax for the 2x pioneer when it first came out!

I am curious how this drive performed and is it still working OK? If so, did you burn lots of disks?

2 seperate times today i called cust service to verify order, everything was
good and order was complete on the second call, now i get this for order status:

just got off phone with CSR,

i don't know why i get a different answer everytime i call, but they canceled the first order and then just reordered it for me and said i'll have it friday the 20th....

i've heard this before......

i guess i'll call tomorrow and see what twist the story takes then...

btw, i'm one of the wounded staples kids from before too..... haha

This is the 3rd?? time for this deal. You pretty much have to order Sunday morning to get it. Try another zip code and see if you can pick it up at the store.

the 20th is thursday...if youre anywhere on the east coast, its due to the weather....

hehe, staples CSRs dont seem to like me, probably cause I called like 5 times today asking about my order.

I guess they keep logs of each call cause I played dumb and asked about my order and she saw that they already told me it was due to weather and got kind of annoyed. Oh well, she did however say that my order was approved and is at the warehouse and is the "currenting filling" state or something like that.

got my drive today. also drove over to QTC Computers in Santa Ana and picked up some 4x media at $2 a pop and 1x media at $0.80. the 4x stuff worked awesome and i am testing the 1x stuff as we speak now. here is a link to their website if you guys are interested:

the Ritek 4x media works and costs less than half of the Pioneer 4x media. if you want to save some bucks and don't care how fast it burns, try the Princo 1x stuff at $40 for a 50 pack. friendly people but it is in santa ana so wear kevlar if you go in person

If you put in your zip code, and then it shows out of stock, does it check all of the stores in the area? And uh.. do they ever restock midweek, or anything?

if it comes up out of stock at the website (which it did for me, even though i knew, because I called, that several stores in my area had them), call the damn 1800 number and place your order that way. forget the website.

This is the DVR-105 and not the A05, is this correct? They are bot Pioneer drives, but are not identical - is this correct?

they are identical. the a05 is the retail packaging for the dvr-105. The drives are EXACTLY the same.

ive heard conflicting info on that. some reviews show that the real pioneer performs much better than the cendyne, even with the firmware upgrade..FWIW

Didn't work for me. The CSR said that they are not showing any stock at any of their warehouses and that the system will not let her enter an order (even for backorder).

that sux! might just be too late to get them anywhere. wouldnt hurt to call the B&M though. You might not be able to use the 50 of 200 coupon, but you could use the printable 30 of 150 I think.

Just wanted to confirm that I called staples today. I ordered my DVD Burner the 16th and still showing processing. They told me because were I live the shipping will be 1-2 days delayed because of bad weather in the wharehouse area mines being shipped. Which sucks but what can you do about the weather. I just hope to get it this Friday at the lastest.
