Damn, it sucks that Staples is taking forever to process your order. I ordered mine yesterday and the status says shipped so it's coming in today

Status says shipped this morning, and its coming by UPS. Originally they said it would arrive on Thursday, which Im assuming is still true. I may take a half day off of work so I can be there when UPS driver shows up. I've had a hard time getting UPS drivers to leave packages with the apartment office, and I don't want to wait until 3 failed attempts to deliver and then have to pick it up at a local UPS office. Thanks for the tip on this drive Mystic.

so just leave him a note to leave the package there, or have UPS put your name on the waiver.

if it comes up out of stock at the website (which it did for me, even though i knew, because I called, that several stores in my area had them), call the damn 1800 number and place your order that way. forget the website.

Didn't work for me. The CSR said that they are not showing any stock at any of their warehouses and that the system will not let her enter an order (even for backorder).

that sux! might just be too late to get them anywhere. wouldnt hurt to call the B&M though. You might not be able to use the 50 of 200 coupon, but you could use the printable 30 of 150 I think.

Call me lucky then. I ordered one with the 50 off 200.

yes, i ordered from them. The order shipped yesterday and he sent me the USPS tracking #. I assume it should come in either tomorrow or Friday. I'll let you all know how the Ritek G03's go when they come in.

yipee, just got my drive in. It wasnt delivered by the staples guy though. I guess staples subcontracted some company called CDI to deliver it. Anyways, since I got the drive in, now I can post the deal I got. I didnt want to post it before so I wouldn't jinx it.

Subtotal: $239.94
Coupon Codes:
xxxxx: - $50.00
xxxxx: - $40.00
Tax: $12.00
Shipping: $0.00
Total: $161.94

I had ordered on the Saturday after they posted the deal on the website without the lowered prices and the rebate. I called up and had them manually adjust the price to $239.94 and applied the $40 off coupon. I called up a little later, asked where I could locate the rebate. The lady put me on hold for a few minutes and came back saying she couldnt find it and that she would credit my account $50 (by adding another coupon).

Best part of all, according to some people who mentioned above, the rebate will be valid if purchased the Saturday beforehand. Even if not, my invoice which came in the box only shows the ship date, which was yesterday.

Which receipt is everyone mailing in to claim these rebates? The invoice in the box or the printout from the website? Thanks!

I just got mine.

They delivered it at my job right before lunch. Everything seems to be in order, can't wait to try it out at home

i was going to order a combo deal of 100 ritek dvd-rs and 50 dvd-rws but they don't offer it anymore.

i also noticed that they raised their price for 75 to 80.

are those optodisks decent? i don't want a stack of 100 coasters.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a TV in/out card, rip the dvd's to your hard drive and then play them on your tv? Since dvd's are gonna be obsolete in 2-3 years why keep putting more $$$ into the technology?

because some of us have a different use in mind.
not to mention that the macrovision would be harder to circumvent that way..or at least as far as i know.

There is also significant loss of quality involved since your grabbing an analog signal and then storing it to hard drive.

You should be able to look in Nero and under the Choose Recorder menu it should show the firmware rev.

I downloaded a file "firmwareck.exe" from the pioneer site to check my firmware revision.

I've also heard conflicting reports that the 'retail' version, the A05 performs much better than this drive - the DVR-105. Am I correct to assume that I can flash this drive with the A05 firmware? Anybody?

Yes, you can upgrade the 105 with the A05 firmware, as they are (for all intents and purposes) identical. Pioneer's own identification software lists the Cendyne drive as a DVR-105, and there are no markings on the drive that even mention Cendyne. While you're at it, why not buy a 25pk of 4x DVD-R media from ESbuy.com for $45. I just got my 25pk in the mail today, they came in slimline jewel cases (which suck, but it's better than a plain spindle), and from the 3 I've burned and tested so far, I can tell that they work in more dvd players than my previous cheap media (1x white-top Princos).

Yup, they do burn @ 4x. I've only used RecordNow MAX 4.1 to burn so far, but Nero does recognize them as 4x dvd-rs. My only grip about these DVD-Rs from ESbuy is that they don't look like they have a real top layer, instead, the top of each disc in just reflective silver. This makes me scared to write on them (but what the heck ), it also raises issues about longevity, but I might just be paranoid.
