For those concerned about the Khypermedia / Value Disc 200 pack CD-R rebates, if you don't receive your shipment within 6 days of PURCHASE DATE (you need it 1 day early so that you can have it postmarked within 7 days, right?), don't sweat it too much. When placing an ON-LINE ORDER, companies realize that DELIVERY TIME is involved. OfficeMax places a DELIVERY DATE (or SHIPPED DATE) field on their invoices. It's a pretty safe bet that if you include a note w/ your MIR explaining that the item didn't ship until "xx/xx/2003," (and if that date's listed on the invoice), so long as you're postmarked within 7 days of the DELIVERY DATE you should be ok. If the item gets shipped to you via UPS, print out a TRACKING PAGE of your shipment at ups.com and include that tracking page w/ your rebate submission. So long as you're postmarked within 7 days of UPS' DELIVERY, again you should be OK.
REMEMBER TO INCLUDE A NOTE OF EXPLANATION!!!!
Real life example: Back in January I applied for $20 mfr rebate on an item which asked for: ORIGINAL UPC CODE, ORIGINAL SERIAL # LABEL, and PROOF OF PURCHASE LABEL from the product box. I was able to comply with the first two items (UPC & S/N) but couldn't comply w/ the 3rd item (PROOF OF PURCHASE LABEL) as there was no such label on the box. I wrote a note w/ my MIR explaining that there was no "PROOF OF PURCHASE LABEL" on the box but that the UPC & S/N labels are proof of purchase. My rebate check arrived a few days ago, no problems.
