Nah, no insult intended. You probably mean 4x burner, and that would be up to fate and a little angry man sitting behind a desk in Denver...

naw man, i meant the 48X CD-RW that someone mentioned up top its 19.99 after rebate, and also will work as a filler, so i dont have to get the 200 cd-r's

I called, waited for 30 mins to get a really rude guy, anyways he was no help, so i searched the site and im 90% sure this is the drive:
#20182491 - Cendyne 48x12x48 Internal CDRW Drive

I dont want the cd-r's because of the reason it has to be post marked 7 days from purchase, and people are saying the ship date is too late, so i think i wanna go for this drive instead, as the filler to take me above 250

Woo.. Just ordered the DVD-R and CD-RW over the phone. I spoke with a very nice CSR who said they have been swamped with orders for this hot deal all morning.

BTW the CD-RW part# is 20182491, someone was wondering. Got the $50 DVD IR, $30 CD-RW IR, and $50 off $250. Total order including tax: $230.98. Minus $30 and $50 MIR, final cost = 150.98. Thanks mysticman!!!

Also note: The 200 CD-R pack is out of stock in my area (W. Springfield, MA). ymmv.

Went to the OfficeMax website. The prices for the DVD Burner and Value Disc were not updated to reflect the new weekly sales AD. I found the coupon off for $50 off $250 purchase. I went to the store with my printout and they were giving the 4x Cendyne because he said they didnt have the 2X for sometime now. He said that he could not honor the $50 off $250 purcahse without a promo code. I informed him that a code was never shown and I showed him the officemax printout showing the onlien site didn;t have the current weekly prices right. He said as long as I could bring him a code or proof showing $50 off $250 purchase he would honor it. I ran home printed it out brought it back.

I choose the Khypermedia 200 Value pack because they were allowing substitues over the Value Disc. The Value Disc is only 32X and Khypermedia was 48X and had labeloing so I went with Khypermedia instead. So, it all worked out perfect according to the orginal deal. But I just got it instore instead of online.

Needless to say, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE TIME YOU GUYS ALL PUT IN TO COMING UP WITH THESE DEALS.

Is it a problem that the DVD-R/RW and the CD-RW use the same rebate form and the rebate form expressly says "Limite ONE rebate per person, household, family or address." How can you use it for both drives?

Whew! Got in before the buzzer online.. Didn't want to phone order it, because I wanted to use up my MSN bucks. (So I waited for the price change, and snatched it up). Thank MysticMan1 for the deal!

Now let's just cross our fingers for 4x!

Can you email me the link to the $50 of $250 coupon? I can't find it anywhere on their site.

Thanks,

OK so I tried to order one online today and even had it in my cart, but their website wasn't giving me the $50 IR, and they wanted to charge me shipping because I was out of their shipping area supposedly. My nearest OfficeMax is 50 miles away and happens to be in a town where I have relatives. So I go visit and go by the local OfficeMax while I am there. I try to buy the burner but they are sold out and want to substitute a Verbatim. I had already decided that I wanted the rebadged Pioneer so I declined. The troubling thing here to me is that the store had absolutely zero in stock. I am sorry, but I don't think much of a company that advertises items at a cheap price and doesn't even bother to order any of that same item for the sale. So now their website's price reflects the $50 IR but they are out of stock. I suppose I could call their customer service and try to get them to let me use a $50 on-line coupon and let them backorder it and take my chances on when I might get it and whether or not I will get a 2x or 4x. Since I was having a hard time doing business with this company I simply decided not to. I will buy a 4x model from Staples the next time they have them on sale or wait for some deals this summer on the new Lite-On multi-format since Sony doesn't seem to want to compete for sales.

Successes:
-Got 4x DVD [DVD-105] from in-store as substitute [could have gotten Verbatim +R... I found that funny 'Here, have a +R instead']
-Got Valuedisc in-store
-Got Mgr to put 4x for $269 - $50 IR [although was already that :? ]

Failures:
-Didn't get $50 off $250 deal

Ah well, for $169.99 still is a pretty good deal... still paid tax though. He's right.. you can put a jam on this one, because it is toast.

I got the 50 off 250 at the store and the 4x burner instead of the verbatim dvd+r. Changed my mind afterwards and returned the cd-r's at different store on the way home.

You got lucky... the manager of the store I went to was a rather un-helpful person. Isn't the 4x supposed to be the SAME price as the 2x? Then why did he put the managerial code on it? Who knows. Maybe I'll get online and see what's there.

How are we supposed to handle the rebate on the Value Disc 200 CD-r pack if they are backordered? Any bright ideas (I can't refuse delivery because the unit is being sent to my office)..

For those concerned about the Khypermedia / Value Disc 200 pack CD-R rebates, if you don't receive your shipment within 6 days of PURCHASE DATE (you need it 1 day early so that you can have it postmarked within 7 days, right?), don't sweat it too much. When placing an ON-LINE ORDER, companies realize that DELIVERY TIME is involved. OfficeMax places a DELIVERY DATE (or SHIPPED DATE) field on their invoices. It's a pretty safe bet that if you include a note w/ your MIR explaining that the item didn't ship until "xx/xx/2003," (and if that date's listed on the invoice), so long as you're postmarked within 7 days of the DELIVERY DATE you should be ok. If the item gets shipped to you via UPS, print out a TRACKING PAGE of your shipment at ups.com and include that tracking page w/ your rebate submission. So long as you're postmarked within 7 days of UPS' DELIVERY, again you should be OK.

REMEMBER TO INCLUDE A NOTE OF EXPLANATION!!!!

Real life example: Back in January I applied for $20 mfr rebate on an item which asked for: ORIGINAL UPC CODE, ORIGINAL SERIAL # LABEL, and PROOF OF PURCHASE LABEL from the product box. I was able to comply with the first two items (UPC & S/N) but couldn't comply w/ the 3rd item (PROOF OF PURCHASE LABEL) as there was no such label on the box. I wrote a note w/ my MIR explaining that there was no "PROOF OF PURCHASE LABEL" on the box but that the UPC & S/N labels are proof of purchase. My rebate check arrived a few days ago, no problems.
