Loved the first two, the third - ehhh, not so much.

I enjoy base building, so ToV was a letdown. Helluva deal, and you have no excuse to not pick this up if you enjoy mildly enjoy RTS games.

If you weren't previously interested in CoH, consider just getting the original for $5. It is one of the best RTS games of the last decade and you can get plenty of entertainment out of it with mods like Joint Operations.

Is it required to have the original COH through Steam in order for the expansions to work?

I got COH Gold (COH + Opposing Fronts) from D2D that works essentially like a retail copy. If I were to buy TOV from Steam, would I be able to play it?

Any steam experts here?

How does steam work with multiple PC's?

I bought 3 of the gold packs for 3 PC's here. Can I simply download and install on one PC, then backup/copy the apps directory to the other 2 PC's (after installing basic steam on each)? Of course afterwards, each would log in with different purchased account. After seeing a lot of banned accounts, don't want to mess anything up, but also don't want to needlessly triple the long download time needed to obtain the games.

You have the option to gift the purchase or to purchase for yourself during checkout. I would do 1 purchase for myself then gift the rest to the other accounts.

I really hope you didn't buy three copies for three of your own PCs. You could play the game wherever you are using a single account. It is possible to have one Steam account yet install the games on many seperate computers. As long as you are only logged onto Steam with one computer at a time, there is no limit to the # of installs.

It'll work, just sign into your account that you already have and add the product key for Tales of Valor.

If all I care about is multiplayer ToV is all I need, right?

Yes, Tales of Valor will give you access to all online modes and armies for multiplayer.

Just ordered, installed, wouldn't launch it would say "launching" and then nothing would happen.
Verified cache, first 24 files needed updating and redownloaded, then I did it again and it needed 1, then I did it again and it needed 5????
What the heck?
I haven't tried running it after the first redownloading of the 24 files. Will try after these 5.

edit: ok works fine now.

Yes, for 3 of my own PC's. But for use with 3 different people or accounts at the same time, for small LAN parties.

as was mentioned in the PC gaming thread, you can't run the same account on separate PCs. you can purchase the game once, transfer to the same account on any computer infinite times, but you can only have one instance of a single account running.

If you want 3 separate people playing this at once, you will need 3 separate accounts, 3 purchases.

By the way: Screw you hot deals! The last thing I needed was yet another video game that I may never get to play! bought this damn thing yesterday

Hm, am I just growing up? I just have trouble caring about this game. New interface to learn. I think if I wanted to play an RTS I would go install Starcraft because I already know how to play it.

This game hitches along with recommended settings on my comp. They really need to optimize it better, it doesn't look that great. I'm tired of PC gaming with crap games.

Yea, it was a bit choppy for me as well at default settings on my 8800gt. I looked at the settings, and it set everything at Ultra automatically. I lowered all the Ultras to High and now it runs smoothly.

It is running OK for me in 64bit Win7. I did get a bit of audio choppiness and some generally slow start up behavior, however I tend to have similar issues in a lot of Steam games (slow startup).

Running at just at max graphics and it looks fairly decent.

That's easy. Install steam and download game on one PC. Then use Steam's "backup" feature to copy game files in an archive. Move this archive to other PC, click the exe in archive. It will ask for account name/pass. Log in with account 2 (you already should have purchased game on account 2). It will restore the games from the archive, but now they will be "ready to play" under account 2. Repeat this for as many accounts as you need.

Mine were not set (none in fact) to Ultra, several set to medium, and it's choppy.

Edit, my mistake, there were Ultra settings. Turned everything to Hi and runs a lot better now. Thanks!!!!!

I actually owned the original game, but still bought the complete steam pack anyway. For the price the value is there and now I can just install them all from Steam. Easily the best RTS single player I have ever experienced - except the last two damn missions. Never beat them.
