well i went to my local compusa in redodno beach to see if there were a lot in stock for tomorrow and i got a little insight from an employee. he told me they had plenty so come back tomorrow and also said to spend the extra $69 for the 2 year replacement plan. he said if i bought that and waited 2 months till all the fs740s were out of stock i could bring mine back and they would take it no questions asked and give me the fs7550. its almost the same monitor, only less bulky and its black and silver. im thinking about it, and he said it also means that right before the 2 years is up i could bring that back and get another new monitor.
i wonder if they tell all customers this...?

I'd be weary of the service plan. The salesmen will say just about anything to get you to buy one. The guy in my Compusa was pushing it really hard. He even offered it to me for $35 when I said no to $69. I had a really bad experience trying to collect on this in the past. They won't replace the monitor unless the one they are replacing it with is cheaper than the price you paid. (And they don't usually carry any in the $200 range.) When I tried to collect on a warranty for another item that was OOS they said they wouldn't refund and tried to make me pay the shipping costs to send it away to be fixed. Buyer Beware. They certainly will not allow you to replace a $200 monitor with a $400 one. This only happened one time so other people may have had more luck.

<< I snagged one in Melbourne FL today, (only one I saw) I think they are clearancing these out , I figured they'd all be gone when I'm able to go on Sunday after Church so now to get the $200 off, as far as the $150 rebate goes, last time I sent in a compaq rebate for $100.00 ($15 OM deal) I got the check pretty quick so I think compaq is good at honoring there rebates. >>


Do they have any left? I'm thinkin of swinging by to get one.

i did in favt see this monitor earlier this week at staples in torrance. it said clearance, but it was still $350. there were about three left and they were just stakced in the middle of an aisle.

It would be funny if this is not the monitor on sale tomorrow. I just got one and this box almost did not fit into my car dude. Very, very large, gigantic monitor box.
Should have seen me dude, my wife and I was having a hard time pushing the "fat square lady" into the front seat. Funny ha?

I also decided that $65 after taxes for a flat-screen 17" monitor can't be beat, so I headed to the local CompUSA with the intention of buying one, but decided not to. It's very bulky and heavy, has max. resolution of only 1024x768 at 85Hz; at 1280x1024 it's only 60Hz -- an eye killer. They had three or four on display and they all had pretty bad distortions in all four corners. Some of the 8-year-old monitors in our labs have better specs and image quality. But if one is not very picky about the geometric distortions (which might be fixable) and doesn't need high resolutions, this is an awesome deal.

As I read it that means If I buy another one Sunday I can get another $150.00 rebate.

I was looking at the Compusa site and it has the monitor listed at $49.99 and also states "Quantities limited. 2 per customer." Underneath that it says "Limit one per order." That is a little confusing.

Makes this monitor $86. Not a HOT HOT deal, but still ok. I dunno, for my sister, not that she really cares, so we'll see.

hehe, just got back from my trip to CompUSA to pick up those 208-cd case things and to officemax to get the 100-pk free AR CDRs. Pulled up to CompUSA at a little after 11 (when they open) and oh my, there were 4 people shoving compaq boxes in their car I walked in (along with some other people that seemed to want to get in before me... they were speed walking ) , and the first display is the monitors, and there were about 3 left when i walked in (i didnt get one... dont have $150 to hold up in rebates right now), and i'm sure they were gone by the time i left... definately a very hot deal!!!

My store was f-ckin mob scene this morning. People trying to jump ahead and walk faster to get one of the Compaq monitors. I had a guy literally grab one of the 208 CD cases out of my hand. The stupid ass didn't even notice the ones with the $5.00 rebate that were still up on the shelf.

I waited about 20 minutes in line and was the 20th person. When the doors opened these f ing tards ran past me and grabbed the six that were on the floor. I was now in a line of about 50 people. The CSR said he had a bunch of them and they kept bringing them out. I didn't have a prayer...but they made it to me and beyond. They must have had a hundred of them. What a freaking deal, thanks! The monitor looks great on my daughters desktop.

cool Sepen, btw the Staples PM was with the 'in the Sunday paper' CompUSA ad...my manager did not even bat an eyelash on the PM but would not allow my $30 Staples email printout.. anyway $50 after rebate for a 17" monitor and speakers. I submitted my rebate thru Compaq Spring Bundle promo Click "View Qualifying Products" button and did online submission.
