Well I tried to get another monitor today and was denied. I knew this was going to happen cause there was a different manager there this time and he gave me a hell of a hard time. He said no its to much of a price decrease. I asked him if he could find it in the staples pm policy where it states any set amount. He said there isn't one. So I basically said give me the damn price then. After arguing for a while he decided to call to check the in stock status and verify if the price was that low. He didn't believe the form I had. Well the place we called was out of stock (i knew it would be) and when I gave him another number he got rather annoyed and said he's not going to call all over the state. That place was 78miles away, he said something like "your going to drive that far for this monitor"? The nerve of this guy geez. After he walked away the lady at the counter said he's the most tight-wad of all the managers there. He remembered seeing me there yesterday and we were discussing that a little. I wonder if he could lookup that info and possibly charge the difference to my credit card if he has reason to believe they weren't in stock at the time. I got there at 8:30am and when he tried to verify stock status, the compusa's were closed. So I ended up waiting in the parking lot till 9 and came back in. Ah well, guess I should have stuck w/ going in later in the day.

-New info-
Found a place which had 1 left in stock. I quickly called staples back, asked for that same manager. Told him this. He took my name/number and said he'll call me back. Waited over an hr, no call. Ended up driving back down there and he said give him another hr. I was starting to get pissed off again. I waited and went back, he wasn't there. Was at lunch. I asked to speak to another manager which musta just came in, he seemed nicer. He called to verify in stock status and let me grab only 1. Used another $30 off $150 coupon and quickly walked out. Heh! Got another for under $20 after rebate. However I think that was my last from there. I called a few compusa's and they said they should be getting some more in. Or I may just visit another staples since they provide a better price. Oh ya, I also went to sears and tried to pm. Man, they were a bunch of a$$holes. Did not want to even call to check stock. As soon as they saw the instant savings part they said sorry can't match with that. They said they can match regular prices but not prices brought down because of any rebates, instant offers, etc.. The lady manager there was getting on my nerves, she said if compusa has a better price then go there, if staples, cc, or others pm it with no problem then go there. I told her thanks for nothing and walked out. Anyways thats my story so far.

See...this is how it starts, though. Today it's 'Whaddaya need another monitor for?'
Tomorrow it's 'Why don't you just sell your Mustang...it's so impracticle...'
The next thing you know, you have to make a play date to go drinking with your buddies.
Put your foot down now, before it's too late!

OK, so maybe after 5 years with mine I'm a little jaded.

Well I scored another one at the second staples I went to on Sunday. It was about 20min before they closed and I had the guy brought down the wrong monitor at first. This was a different Manager, but was real nice. Said that he would get the monitor and take care of me, as in the PM. And when I ask about using the coupon, he said sure why not, something about it's my right to save. Maybe it's all about location. I've had good experience with Delaware stores, OK with NJ stores.

For those that got no service either from sears, cc, staples, I'd ask for their regional, corporate info to file a complaint. But probably best to just move on and find someone nicer, don't get stress over it... But I do hate dealing with crappy managers. Don't know how they kept their job.

Hey Pecel,
If she can stop you from buying a monitor now, imagine how miserable a marriage can be in the future?
Compromise but not to give in so quick.

I just bought the last one at the Staples in Alliance, OH for $13.11 AR. The Store in Streetsboro, OH had 3 left yesterday, but beware, they won't accept a coupon with a PM.

Damn...I *knew* I should've read the thread before I picked one up from CompUSA yesterday. Could've tried the PM at Staples, but oh well..$50 is still a steal. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that my CompUSA (Little Rock, AR), got a shipment in yesterday of these monitors. I had figured they would be gone, and had already decided I wasn't going to go through the hassle of getting one on Sunday, but since they had a big pallet of them yesterday at the store...couldn't resist. So check back at your CompUSAs...they may have gotten more in.

I just orderd from amazon.com for 379.99 with free shipping, and plan to use AMEX to PM Compuvest's $225. $75 isn't bad for people who doesn't have a car like me. Does anyone know if i can PM to CompUSA by printing out the pdf weekly ad? The PDF ad doesn't seem to have dates that they're running the sale.

Got a third one from the same staples. Went in later in the day. No pushy managers this time. However she would only give me 100% pm instead of 110%. However I did use the $30 off coupon for a total of $180.17 (tax included) which is $30.17 ar. Still not bad, they again didn't check stock status but i did have a printout on compusa.com showing which stores had them in stock in my area, last price update was this morning. I sure hope they were right when they said theres no limits on the rebate since I have 3 now. Staples receives a delivery on friday so those of you who's staples are sold out, i'ld recheck friday sometime. I did look at one at bestbuy and like someone else posted here, it does appear to not be flatscreen behind the flatscreen glass in front.

for all of the people (no one in particular ) who keep complaining that this monitor is not flatscreen, went to best buy and circuit city, and noticed what? samsung 753df IS NOT FLAT INSIDE OF THE GLASS. nec pf7whatever is not either... in fact, at least 60%/70% of them don't not seem to be flat inside of the glass... breaking it down... this is a 17" somewhat flat monitor for _$50_ before taxes, after a pretty much guaranteed rebate. AND it's a commercial ad, which greases the pm wheels, AND for a deal that's constantly being crabbed on, it sure is kind of hard to find these monitors IN ANY STORE THIS WEEK...

unclebud: don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining in any way. I just wanted to see for myself if it wasn't "true" flatscreen since I happen to walk right past them. Just something I never really paid attention to before. For $50, its fine. For under that amount its an even sweeter deal. My only 17" monitor i've ever had was a philips brand. I have a 21" hp monitor right now. Its really nice. My only complaint is that it only does 1600x1200 res at (85 htz). Other's i've seen go higher in resolution. The dual inputs are nice also.

Thanks MysticMan1,

Just scored the last one in Hackensack, NJ Staples for total of $164.27 ($30 coupon applied) before MIR. Already have a Sony M51 and Envision EN-7100 LCD plus a ViewSonic PT770 CRT. Does not really know what to do with this FS740 but just cannot resist this great deal. Hmmm, maybe I will use JBL speaker then sell monitor to my coworker. Thanks again.
