Note that this deal is a few bucks more than Monarch, but Monarch is definitely the better deal if are in NJ or CA where Newegg will nail you with tax.

This is dead ATM, but Monarch has had rebates on them before (prior to Black Friday), so keep an eye out.

How do these compare to other graphics cards in the price range, such as the 6800XT and the 6600GT?
GTO, LE, XT...It's starting to give me a headache.
Why can't they just go back to TI, regular, and LE?

Assuming your card unlocks to 16 pipes (12 stock), and you can OC it a bit, this is probably the best card out there as far as bang/buck right now.

Dang tempting, I'll tell you that.
I would presume than an unlocked one of these would blow away a 6800NU?

If you get lucky and to get it unlock and get it to o/c to x850xt level, then it will be faster than a 6800Ultra.

Got mine running right now @ 16 pipes, and @ 520/540 (will do more) so it's at X850XT. No special requirements, just flash the bios (easy 5 min project) and OC with program of your choice, and voila.

Lucky is an understatement. I've heard that these unlock like 90% of the time, while the NU only would unlock around 25%. Also DDR3 and overclockability make it rival even an unlocked 6800NU ocerclocked W/O unlocking.

The monarch deal is dead, because it requires a purchase of the card on the 25th.
"Valid for purchases on 11/25/05."

Just a follow-up note, these ARE eligible for the $100 Crossfire rebate and ARE, obviously, Crossfire compatible.

Edit:

These cards are Crossfire READY, but you need to buy a Crossfire EDITION card in order to run two of them togther.

Not too sure about you getting the crossfire rebate for both the cards.
One of the cards has to be a master card. I don't think either one of these are.

Read carefully what CrossFire is and what the terms of the rebate are (and if the x800 GTO is CrossFire certified).

Here, let me make this clear:

The BOX for the Connect3D x800 GTO from Newegg has a nice-sized Crossfire logo and 3-steps you need to follow in order to get a Crossfire system up and working (buy one card, buy another card, buy a motherboard). The .PDF I linked to at ATI's site lists the X800 GTO as being valid as part of the rebate offer.

I have already submitted for my Crossfire rebate.

You can only get ONE $100 rebate on TWO cards. It's motivation for you to buy a second Crossfire EDITION card and Crossfire motherboard. You CANNOT get TWO $100 rebates.

Just picked one up, Santa better send me unlockable one. Thanks for the heads up.

What would be a good aftermarket cooler for this card?

Sorry man your screwed. This is not crossfire edition card. Its crossfire ready. That means if you get an Crossfire edition (master) card it will work with these. The crossfire logo is not enough. The deal would be too good to be true. If its too good its usually not true. The best you can do is sell one and try to get a crossfire edit card in the next 2 days. Even if you al ready filled out the paper work, it just means in 6 weeks they will send a letter letting you know why your not getting your money.

But still all in all a good deal for 1 card.

Here's what you need to do:

Buy a Crossfire Ready card, which the Connect3D x800 GTO is;

Register your card with ATI so you can get the e-coupon;

Buy a Crossfire Edition card by 11/30, and submit the $100 e-coupon/rebate form (which requires the UPC from the Crossfire Edition card)

The Master / Crossfire Edition card has what looks like Dual DVI, but upon closer inspection, is a special port for connecting to a Crossfire Ready card.

as I believe this is a master card? So you can get the $100 off it plus the $90 rebate, plus the $25.

So for spending ~580 you get $215 off.

Yes, that would work because the HIS rebate asks for the model and serial number label, but NOT the UPC label, which you would need for the Crossfire rebate.

Was just reading the newegg review in that link and it states...

"Previous reviews stated you could activate the 4 extra pipes on this card from 12 to 16. Unfortunetly it seems with a new BIOS rev. this ability has been disabled.".

Anyone know if theese are the facts?

I'm hoping that this new Bios rev. isn't true because I just ordered one from newegg 2 days ago. I should be receiving my connect3d x800gto pci-e from newegg this thursday or friday. I'm hoping mine unlocks and will oc well. Let's hope for the best that this review isn't true and is made up!
