I would if I could, but I don't have a Minolta S404. I was just playing with it at Fry's last night.

I also went to the Bridgeport Staples, but I guess after you guys did, at 6pm. When I asked one of the employees he said he just bought 3 so I guess thats why they sold so fast. Oh well, at least I was able to get the UPS and 80Gb HD while I was there, and used the $40 off coupon.

As of today, Tuesday, May 21, 2002, time is 12:30pm, NO stores with a radius of 25 miles of San Francisco have the Vivitar 3725 3.3MP digital camera.

I find this to be funny than rude, but when i called the El Cerrito Staples, asked the employee to do a product check of the Vivitar 3725, he immediately answered, no we dont have it in stock and hang up. I was thinking, did you even bother checking or transfer my call to the proper department like ever other Staples i call. I guess some people dont want to run around.

vfdfs2: you should know by now if you've ever been anywhere near the rest of El Cerritos (besides the shopping center) that its not a great place. My g/f used to live near there, used to hear gunshots and ambulances all night long.

El Cerrito Staples was the biggest pain. I don't know why they keep looking under rocks to find employees there.

vfdfs, 3725 is not in the computer system yet. When I bought mine, the cashier tried to scan the upc, got nothing. She has to enter the product id number of 3665 to get it to work. All ppl that get 3725 are given a receipt of 3665. I asked the manager, and he confirmed the rebate will work on 3725 UPC too.

Since this camera is not in their computer system yet?, i took a trip to the nearest Staples stores ( 3 stores) within the San Francisco area. NO store(s) have the Vivitar 3725 3.3MP digital camera in stock. I requested them to dig behind the counters and the back, NOTHING.

Time now is 1:44pm.

I did have the opportunity to play with a demo model at Fry's. This camera feels cheap and cheap. Still, its a bargain for a 3.3MP camera.

THIS OFFER ONLY IS GOOD FOR SAN FRANCISCO PICKUP ONLY

I hope this is appropriate. I bought an extra 3725 for a friend of mine. He's decided that he doesn't want it now. The fat guys talked him out of it. So I was going to return it. But if someone wants it, let me know. I paid about $250 for it. I didn't have a coupon.

Email me at puppy_friend@yahoo.com if interested.

from Vivitar Tech Support

not sure why no one thought to ask them (Vivitar), but I shot them an email today, and to their credit they got back to me in a couple hours (rare for most companies)

Me:
I purchased one of your cameras, and am very happy with it. I noticed that color saturation was not as deep as I would like though. I notice that Minolta ships their cameras with conversion software to improve images. It looks like the Vivitar 3725 is the same as the Minolta s304, is that true?

Him:
Your perception of the two cameras is correct. I think about the only differences are in the contrast control and I think one other item ( along with a little more chrome on the Minolta's controls). Contrast is a thing that can easily be done in most third party software programs so not too important in the camera itself. Photoshop has a great control over the resulting images that is completely adjustable and better than anything you could do with the camera itself..

I think he missed the point about the software, but still....

I'm not saying a tech. support rep. knows everything, but he didn't say it wasn't the same camera either

I have to ask.

What's the big deal about 3.3MP+ ?

Unless you have an A3 printer, that is.

Are you serious??? Did you ever take pictures? OOOoops, sorry for ironic comment.

Ok, still subjects ar fine, you can always move closer so the subj fits nicely in viewfinder. Now try to take a photo of something moving--very quickly you'll see that most of the time the object you're "shooting" takes less than a 25% of the picture. Obviously, you'd like to crop&enlarge--there you need 3.3+MP camera.

I got .3 MP camera ages ago (btw, still have it), tried 2 MP once--didn't like it. Waiting for a good deal on 3+ MP camera--too bad I missed this one

60 bucks??? :Q
I just bought 8 GP 1800 NiMH off ebay for 21 bucks with shipping. I assume you got the mahas.....
How important is the charger?? I have an everready charger that has an internal timer of 15 hours. Do you guys think the batteries will charge up in 15 hours??
It seems that the Vivitar is basically a rebadged Minolta. A guy at fat wallet said the remote control for the minolta also works for the Vivitar.

For those of you looking for the DiMAGE Image Viewer Utility, I believe I found a copy of the newest version 2.0 thanks to Google. Supposedly, this version just came out. I have successfully retrieved images from my 3725.
