I've been telling people this sub goes on sale for $99 for about 6 months now, and it finally did.

This is pretty much the sub to get in the under $200 range. edit: except maybe the new 12" one that is mentioned below

I had one before I replaced it with my PB10 and it was very nice for the money.

Tons of recommendations over at hometheaterforum and AVSforum if you want to check it out.

Also known as the Dayton "Tiny Mighty" (even though it's a pretty decent size
Exterior dimensions: 12-5/8" W x 16-7/8" H x 15-5/8" D
Net weight: 40 lbs.

It's darker than the picture shows on their site. Mine was plain black... I'm not sure if they vary in color.

Old pic of the sub (it's the one on top)
Oh, and if the page is unavailable, you guys killed my daily download allowance

Anyway, great sub if you're trying to put together a little HT and trying to keep costs down.

Just a heads up, both the 10" and 12" subs are on sale. AND there's also free shipping until January 4th!
Dayton 10" = $99.88
Dayton 12" = $120.60

They're currently OOS until 11/18 but I'm strongly considering backordering the 12".

Plenty of projects available with those mids.

I bought this sub a year ago for my living room and it does sound pretty good, especially for the price.

can't beat this if you want a good quality cheap sub, i used one in my living room until i got a free klipsch ksw12 (best buy deal), and I'm starting to think maybe the dayton 10" is a better sub! (the ksw12 retails for $400)

I have since upgraded my Dayton 10" to an SVS 16-46PC+ (quite a tep up)m but the Dayton 10 is the best for the $$$ and the 12" for not so much more is even better)

Partsexpress is excellent for the record, I've used them a number of times for various wiring stuff with my car, and their service was great.

i have a massive room with a 15 inch klipsch rsw15 in it now

would the dayton 12" be louder
or do you suggest going two 12's?

Getting rid of the Klipsch sub?

I haven't read any reviews of the 12" model, but it should certainly move more air and do a better job filling up a larger room.
How big is "massive"?
As nice as these are for the money, you might want to think about getting something a little beefier to fill up a really large room with good bass.

I'm driving a pair of bookshelf speakers using one of those sonic impact tri-amp digital amplifiers. The speakers are connected directly to the amp's speaker wire connectors and the PC is connected via soundcard's output to the amp's input jack.

Just wondering if I can connect this sub to the above setup?

You don't have to spend a grand on a nice sub...

I was thinking about this Dayton for the family room TV. I have been waiting for this to go on sale for a while. Bummer...I'm kinda out of cash now.

If you want a truly kickass sub, check out this one at PartsExpress. It requires some minor assembly, but you get an awesome 15" sub for under $700.

I built this kit about a year and a half ago and have been a PA advocate since. The high end output toasts HSU subs of the same $. I eventually ended up selling it because 90% of the bass is unusuable except in the country out of earshot of any neighbors. I had it in a 20x10x12 room and it shook the hell out of the place.

I have auditioned my old 12" sub from the same series blind against a $1200 velodyne, an HSU research VTF-3 MK2, and did the same for friends. The PA sub won hands down against the velodyne and beat the HSU by a decent margin. Only one of about 6-7 people that heard the three liked the Veoldyne better when tested blind.
