Bigfil, make sure to check out SVS too. They have several options for under $1000.

On a related note, I just finished building a pair of Dayton shielded BR-1 speakers and they sound fantastic! They're currently on sale for $129 a pair (thanks for the heads up on price Yoyo). They require soldering, wire cutting and crimping, and using a hot glue gun, all stuff you can learn as you go. I recommend them if you want an awesome pair of speakers but want to do the work yourself.

Wow this is a really good deal. I have a pair of parts express dayton DVC 15's in my car and they SLAM with around 300w RMS a piece. PA makes some quality stuff. Their warranty is very good also.

Nope.

Parts Express

Actually, they have a store in Downtown Dayton also. It houses most of their subs and such. Also Springboro is just down the street from Dayton anyway, but partsexpress is a great place to shop. I prefer to walk in and get better off the shelf deals.

Alright then. Guess I don't know my geography, but I know this is a nice sub

Glad you like it.

Is it replacing a different sub?

Yep, it's replacing a 4 year old Optimus 10" subwoofer.

Sold it to a co-worker.
The Optimus is still going strong

My Klipsch KSW12 blew recently (argh! damn the $200 and 6 weeks to fix it) so I ordered one of these. I fully expect to be plesantly surprised, but I won't be able to compare because my KSW12 blew after I didn't have it for 3 months and now I'm in a new place - nothing to compare it to.

Oh well. For $140 shipped it probably can't be beat.

Just a heads up, both the 10" and 12" subs are on sale. AND there's also free shipping until January 4th!
Dayton 10" = $99.88
Dayton 12" = $120.60

They're currently OOS until 11/18 but I'm strongly considering backordering the 12".

Whitch one do you get the "better off the shelf deals" from? Dayton or springboro store?

How about mentioning that they have the TB W871's in stock...having stupid bass is nothing if your speakers still suck

Plenty of projects available with those mids.

This is a great deal! I would have bought it if not for the delay. I've been waiting for about a month and finally broke down and bought the Acoustech H-100 from Overstock instead

How does this compare to the Advent ASW1200 12" Powered Subwoofer for $80 shipped from Amazon? I just bought my second one because the first one sounded great to my ears, but perhaps I should have waited for this $120 shipped 12" Dayton?

I think the general consensus over avsforum is that the Dayton is of significantly higher quality

Yeah, for the uber-cheap options, the Dayton brands are very well-regarded on the Home-Theater forums. Their performance belies the cost they often go on sale for.

Gah! Now, are the folks at avforum "audiophile" type that can tell you what brand of interconnects you are using just by listening to a white noise generator hooked up using them, or are they the average tone-deaf Joe-consumer like myself? I thought my first Advent sounded fine - better than two other powered subs I have/had (JVC 8" and Fisher 10"). Well, Amazon has shipped the second sub already...

I don't think those kind of people are going to have an opinion on these subs.
