Very nice deal...pretty tempting. Would make a kick-ass MythTV backend server (along with a Hauppauge PVR 250)!

Not bad. The $25 off link doesn't do anything, as far as I can tell. (Tried going through it and getting to checkout screen...nothing). $224 + tax is good though. Highly upgradable as this motherboard will support anything up through the P4 3.2Ghz.

In terms of performance, consider the Celeron 2.0Ghz to be around a "P4 1.6Ghz".

Personally, I'd buy the stock 2.0Ghz celeron system and then wait until chip prices drop before upgrading unless you really NEED the better performance now.

Nice deal, but you should write DELL in your subject line instead of DE11. Makes it easier to search the forum.

Are these coming with SATA onboard?

Under the Hard Drive Configuration section of the config there are a few options like

C1, Motherboard IDE, Ascending Order, 1 Hard drive
C2, Motherboard Serial ATA, Ascending Order, 1 Serial ATA Hard Drive

Does that mean that if you buy a SATA drive you get a SATA mobo and if you only get the IDE you only get IDE on the system or does that mean that they just hook up the drive based on what type it is?

Just bought a P2.4 for $348 after taxes and $100 MIR - very good deal. This is my third 400SC, two at work and now one finally for the home.
Great machines. Thanks lunchm3at!

Looks like a great deal.. I just can't decide between upgrading to the 2.4ghz or 2.2ghz pentium. $99 doesn't seem like too much to upgrade, but when the computer is only $224 base its relatively a lot

The 2.2 is 533MHz bus and the 2.4 is 800MHz bus - I went for the 2.4 because of 800MHz.

The latter - it has onboard SATA.

Not a bad deal. Does anyone know if there are any stackable coupons out that will work with this?
I might cancel the 4600 I ordered and get this instead.

That is definitely a way to go, otoh with the 2.4/800 you are guaranteed to get PC3200 RAM with the celly they may give you PC2700 or even PC2100, which you then would have to also upgrade...

Yes. Dell uses non-standard brackets. The heatsink is sufficient for almost every type of use, and has been extensively tested to be fine temperature-wise. Besides, there's no overclocking with the 400SC.

Was thinking about purchasing the Celeron 2ghz option and then later install a P4 2.6c processer. Will the HSF that comes with the Celeron be able to handle the P4 2.6c???

there are no stackable coupons that i know of, and most of the coupons out there (stackable or not) specifically exclude the sc servers (i could be wrong but am pretty sure)
