I have read that the 8 cell will stick out about 1/2 inch more than compared to the 4 cell.

What kind of realistic battery life can you expect with the 8 cell?

Both minimal settings (dim screen/WiFi off) and max settings.

Shipping is almost sure to be free. The only models available are shown in the link at the top of the thread.

Dell quotes the 4-Cell at 2.5 hours, and the 8-Cell at 5.5 hours. I would knock off at least an hour from those times if you're looking at normal usage (WIFI, medium screen brightness, optical drive usage).

How come these laptops are slightly above the cost at dell home? For example a 9300 from dell home with all the features i want is about 1900 and yes that is the crossed out price. Where as the same laptop would be 1950 on the link above. Still pretty good deal though.

Im looking at the 9300 with a 1.6ghz centrino, 256megs of ram (going to upgrade to a gig myself), 40gig drive, 6cell battery, nvidia 6800, bluetooth.

Im debating between this setup and building my own asus z80k with a mobile 3000+, radeon 9700, 1 gig of ram, and 40gig drive. Im guessing the 9300 would be faster but im not a big dell fan and the z80k might be cheaper.

I know this is hotdeals and not a forum for questions but i would love to have some opinions becuase i dont get much in the laptop forum on this.

see Z71A as posted on Overclockers.com.

Joe Citarella calls this "ASUS Z71A - Overclocking DTR Notebook"
" A drop-dead-no-brainer-easy-as-pie-the-gods-must-be-crazy 33% overclocking notebook."

Thanks for the headsup. Missed out on the last one.

One question - Will free shipping still apply? I can't find any small print that says anything about it. Anyone have any experience with the last deal, maybe similar experience?

When was the last one? If this is a once in a blue moon thing I'll hop on it but would rather wait until next month.

It happens roughly 2-3 times a year.

The last $750 off $1499 excluded the popular 700m and 9300 models.

I corrected myself Chadder007 about 7 messages above yours. Thanks anyways. The deal might as well be dead though. But, I plan on trying anyways. Have nothing better to do.

It's hard to miss unless your alarm doesn't wake you up. The redemptions usually take about 45 minutes to be used up.

Wow this is great! Thanks to the OP for this! By the way, is there a big difference btw. Pentium M 1.6Ghz and 2.0Ghz?

EDIT:
------
Also, does the 700m have no Video Cards or something?

looks to me these are getting colder and colder. its still hot in and of itself, but colder than the previous deals

as you may notice, dell is setting up the code on the page itself, and that you can only use preconfigured machines or with only limited configuration options...

but for those who missed them before, i'd say don't think twice... you can always cancel within 3-4 days if buyer remorse hits. then again they probably have all the parts ready preconfigured/ready for configuration for faster shipping... might explain the limited arsenal of configurable options

Thank you sir,

Too bad I live in Alaska...and by the time I wake up (7am my time) this will be DEAD.

arg, I already bought my laptop a year and half ago, a well loaded i5150 almost 2500 at its time, got some good rebates though, but still. haha, thats the way it works, the longer you wait the better the stuff gets and cheaper too.. Enjoy for those of you who are getting a brand new laptop! It will be a while until I consider getting a new one.

Funny, just the other day I was telling a friend about Dell doing something like this. He said he would talk to a friend of his who works at the one in Round Rock and let me know.

Definitely jumping on the deal this time around. Thanks OP!

Is the 3yr Plus warranty worth getting or is dell's laptops that reliable to justify not spending the 300 or so on the warranty. Otherwise sweet holy ~1000 laptop!

My friends' Dell laptops have lasted. Me personally have opted not to pay more for warranty and instead gone for better components. Woot 3 more minutes until 9am EST!!
