had the monitor for 2 days.
very nice big display.

today though after letting the screen blank itself
when it came back on i noticed one pixel was locked on.
white.

tapped it a couple of times

and when background and foreground where on it wasn't noticeable, but when black was on, it was just there a white dot on a black background.

luckily it went away.

is this common with lcd monitors

a point will just come on and stay on.

is this a point that is going to go, and stay locked on?

should i return the monitor ?

was it caused by the computer blanking out the moniotor for several hours?

do you need to run a screen saver, or monitor blanking with lcds?

thanks
pete

What your doing wrong is trying to use 2 monitors with a card that does not have dual dacs. Unplug your VGA monitor sport You cant do duel displays on Most if not all TI 300's I believe.

Lol I did do that, but still no image came thru the dvi. No option in the nview window. Guess time to upgrade my video card.

Stuck pixels will occur on LCD's. It's bound to happen and usually one or two you can live with. If you have like 6-8 like I read someone on here had I would definitely return it.

BTW, my two monitors are both October 2003, Rev. B89 (B98...??.have to double check, but it isn't the A00 I've seen on here)

I would have ordered 10 of them in that case. It's nice to have a company credit card Use like 4 or 5 myself and then sell the other 5 on Ebay in a few months lol Use the money from the ebay sells to get a nice Ergotron monitor mount setup.

Just got mine in today. It was built Oct 2003 Rev A00 and doesn't have the brightness variance problem up top from what I have observed so far.

Got mine today.

October A00

It DOES have the white problem but not bad enough for me to return. It also has 1 dead and 1 stuck pixel, which also arent bad enough.

However, there is one big problem: I have what appears to be a permanent line going down the left side of the screen that appears when I use non-white lighter colors. Its noticable at times and not at others. I think I may be sending it back. =( Anyone else had this 'line' problem?

I have that issue with my Planar PL201M.... It just started about a month ago, but I've been too lazy to RMA it.

Doing pixel testing reveals that the monitor itself seemst to be issue free. I am wondering if it a result of a crimped cable or something like that. When my 2001FP arrives (grrr... wa shopign for it today.. Ordered on Tues), I'll swap cables and give it a looksee.

Either way, I'm gonna RMA my planar and hope i get a brand new one

Didn't you just buy a 9800XT? It's kinda like that except we spent just a "little" more.

Has anyone been able to find the pivot software for this panel ? I found the driver/color profile for it on the dell website, but I dont see any pivot software.

Turning the bastard around would be pretty nice once in a while.

How long is the base warranty with this monitor? Dell doesnt see to have anything for this specific monitor.

If you are using an Nvidia card, pivot settings are built into the latest driver, look for a setting called 'NVRotate'.
