Damn, I was figuring it was a card problem myself. Thought maybe this 9700 Pro refurb had a problem or something, but if you are seeing it with a Geforce on the same monitor I guess it is a monitor issue and therefore not something that is really fixable.

There's slightly more color (well, greyscale) banding with that image on the LCD than on my Nokia 21" CRT. I have the CRT hooked up on VGA and the LCD on DVI. It's not enough for me to worry about it.

Just got my FP2000 tonight. All I can say is....wow. Def. the best LCD I've ever seen (and the biggest!). One pixel was dead but I prodded the screen a bit and it awoke itself. I tested the color banding, yes its an issue but it's not that big of a deal to me. I'm running analog gf3 ti200 right now, waiting on a good dual DVI deal before I go in that direction. Two thumbs up from me!

update - hooked up the xbox through video coax input, looks ok. It looks about the same as it does on a TV, no real surprise here as the output resolution is fixed by the xbox. No visible ghosting, very playable on UC and Mechassault. Speaking of which, if you own XBox Live and like Mechassault, look me up, nick is PurgatoryZ. I was considering returning this for 2 of the 16ms Hitachi 17's but after 2 hours of using this big beast I'm completely hooked. As far as I'm concerned it's the best $800 I ever spent on computer equipment.

What do you mean by "prodded the screen"?

I just took a cloth and put some light pressure (very light) in a circle around the dead pixel, and it came alive. This is a commonly used method to get the dead ones to pop up.

And if that doesn't work, you can jab it with a stick or sharp and pointy knife a few times. CRT's are fixed by smacking them on the side, LCD's are fixed by prodding.

...uhhh, kidding here.

Wow, I hooked the the 2000FP to the DVI connection on my new Radeon 9700 Pro and the graphics are just as crisp, if not better than on the 19" Viewsonic PF790 it replaced. I played a few rounds of Unreal Tournament 2003 and it was awesome. Didn't see any ghosting... but then maybe I was moving around too fast to notice...

I do have a question that somebody else asked earlier. I can't get the contrast to change. I can't select it. I can get the brightness on the OSD to get selected, but not the contrast... it's like it's disabled. Any reason why? Anyone else having the same problem?

About the contrast, have you tried adjusting it in analog mode? Currently I'm running analog and I can adjust the the contrast. It might have something to do with the DVI mode of the screen, hmm.......

I think you have to set it in the video card settings in DVI mode - can't adjust that at the monitor.

Hoping for mine to be here tomorrow!

I was the one that asked this earlier... and I figured that it wasn't changable in DVI mode.

Well I'm still loving this display, but found at least eight stuck pixels tonight. The easiest way to tell is just to make the screen entirely black (I did it with a black colored slide in Powerpoint but I'm sure there are more "normal" ways). Are you all finding none/some/many? I'm pretty sure I can RMA for this (what is Dell's limit? 3 or 4?) but if everyone's 2000FPs have a few then I might not bother. They really aren't noticeable at all in normal Windows screens but in games and movies, etc they begin to stick out.

Hopefully there are a bunch with no stuck pixels, in which case I hope to get one of those in exchange!

Please post your findings. Thanks.

Actually, that really blows about the contrast inadjustability in DVI. Does anyone have a clue why this is?
I do color correct work on my monitors and am constantly recalibrating my monitors/graphic cards/drivers/scanners/printers for color accuracy. Contrast is obviously one of those tools I would need to adjust to get something accurate color-wise....

My dad ordered 9 of these last night for his business. We were getting a price of approx $900 per monitor (no tax.) We could have ordered from Home/Home Office and had next day shipping free, or we could have ordered from Small Business with free ground shipping. Well my dad ordered from Small Biz because they already have his tax-exempt paperwork on file, but for some reason we were only getting 5% off the overall order instead of the 10% expected from the coupon, making the price around $940. What gives?

EDIT: Nevermind, dad worked out a price of $899.10 per monitor, free next day shipping, no tax. Not bad for getting in on the last day!

If you have one of the latest ATI or NVidia card, you can do pretty much all the adjustments in the driver. Color, Contrast, brightness and more. I don't see a reason that you have to do it with the LCD button.

Well I got my monitor and installed it yesterday. The screen/resolution is GREAT and the bezel sucks. It is twice as thick as my compaqtft8020 bezel. About the same as the cinema display bezel but cinema display hides the thickness better.

DVI is definitely the way to go. I had the 2000fp on the DVI port and the compaq on on analog and the 2000fp looked so much crisper.

I am returning the 1900fp even though I like the thin bezel. the 1600x1200 resolution on the 2000fp won me over.

Perhaps you're in a game and would like to actually have the screen view that you're adjusting be visible while you're adjusting it? Ya think?

Absolutely Gorgeous!

My two came in at noon today. Ordered Saturday night. Didn't get the uber deal, just the $899 each free next day shipping one. Not a single dead pixel so far. These things are huge! I thought the bezel would bother me, but it doesn't. The "big round" Dell logo is not that big either. Upgrading from 2 cheapo 19" montors, so little things like that aren't really getting to me.

One is DVI to a Radeon 9700 Pro and the other is DVI to a GF4 4200.

Gorgeous!

Are the 9700 Pro and the GF4 4200 military issue? If so, I might have to enlist!
