DANG IT...GROWL!!! I just missed an attempted delivery by 15 mins this afternoon. I had to call a different Dell number then what was listed a few msgs back. The automated system gave me an Airborne Express tracking number. So I went to the AB website and tracked it. Since I live in Austin, TX, where Dell is, they must have upgraded the shipping from 3-5 day ground UPSG to overnight AB. This FP is so close to home I can TASTE it! DROOL...

Ok, I, too have the "In Transit" status listed as my order status. I decided to dial 1-877-773-3355 and use their automated tracking feature. The automated tracking feature gave me a waybill number for Airborne Express. According to that, my package was picked up by Airborne Express and is on its way and I can track it online. Should probably be here sometime tomorrow I guess. Like I said, I ordered the 2000FP at around 1-2am (CST) on Dec. 11. I also used 2nd day delivery. Woo hoo... can't wait!

Crap this thread is massive.

Anyway, I picked one up too! I really don't know how people are getting this for under $800 unless they are not being charged tax? Even so, it should be around $760.

I have been looking into wall mounts as that would make this a floating 20" lcd!! I found some German made out of die cast aluminum. Prices run around $220 though. Anybody know a cheaper place to get this? I have seen it on two sites, being:

I just called this number and entered my order #, and got the following message:

"The number you have called is a non-working Dell number. Please hang up and call 1-800-822-8965"

and then it hung up on me. WTF???

Folks: Again, Dell's order tracking is 100% UNRELIABLE. Dozens of us have posted anecdotes to that effect. Unless you have a tracking # in hand, you can't really know anything. And if Dell tells you it's out of stock and won't ship for two months, don't be surprised if it was actually shipped two days ago and is arriving this afternoon.

I've placed probably 25 orders with Dell, and this has happened almost every time. I ordered a digital camera last Monday, called Wednesday and was told that the item was backordered, and that they would try to ship it out to me ASAP, and etc etc etc. On Thursday, it was on my doorstep. It had been shipped Tuesday.

Just have a little patience. It will come.

To those planning on using as a TV - it's not the best device to use as a TV, and I can tell you that the image quality will probably appear worse than on a CRT. CRTs are natural scaling devices, so even at varying resolutions, they can display great color and good sharpness. This LCD (as most others) will not look as good as a CRT when displaying NTSC (TV signals).

I can't stare at my CRT anymore. Its driving me crazy. I want my 20" LCD now damnit. Oh well. I am getting the Sony DSC-U20 2 megapixel digital camera delivered today. At least I will have something new to play with this weekend.

Mine's here, I hooked it up ten minutes ago, and am typing this on it. I prefer the FP1900 aesthetically, but the size of this one alone makes it look very impressive and the 1600x1200 is beautiful. Seems to me like it's perfect.

EDIT: Plenty of extra realestate compared to the FP1900. I'd say close to 50% more. It fits two pages next to each other in word at 90% zoom, which is very much acceptable.

Amazing, oh well. I found out the number for getting order status automatically over the phone, because the previous techniques didn't work for me at all.

Airborne Express allegedly attempted delivery at my office at 8:18 in the morning. Don't they know not all offices open at 8am? I'm off this week, back Monday. Their tracking page says they'll attempt again next business day, so hopefully I'll get it Monday. If not, I may just have to drive down to AX's distribution center and raise some hell.

Air Borne Express just delivered it. Wow. Its bezel is not that ugly. I kind of like it. I thought it would be thicker like my planar 18.1. Have not setup it up yet. Can those who recieved theirs already tell me what the manufactuer date was on LCD? I got one dated Oct 2002. Want to know if I got a really old one?

My came in Next Day! That means they'll charge my card today! Confirmation email said it wouldn't ship till Dec 17th. I thought I had time + one paycheck before I had to make excuses!

Mixed feelings on going home tonight. Want to play with the monitor, don't want to face the other half.

I think it's actually his job to hoard stuff and resell it. It's these people that make me sick. Feel like going to the places where he resells his stuff and tell everyone where to get the deals. The pic has all the 17 inch versions but I think he probably has some 2000FPs comming as well. Thing that bugs me the most is that I have to always sign and bring in the packages (at times, larger shipments than the ones in that pic).

Oh well... prolly should have gone into Brag and Moan but I'm lazy to click it.
