I have spent about 2 weeks shopping for the best deal on big screen tv's. I found it. Since it is the season for giving I figured I would give you guys a heads up incase you were in the market. This TV is a brand new product from sony. They have just started shipping to the vendors from what I hear.

Click Me!

It is the Sony KP46WT500 a Hi-Scan 1080i 16:9 46 inch Rear Projection TV.

Every other price on the net is about $1999.99 + Shipping/Delivery ( $100 or so ) + TV Stand ( $199 ) and in some cases $TAX (mine is 8.5% ).

From <Insert A/V Store here> @ $1999.99 + $199.99 x 8.5% (my tax) = 2386.98 + $100 shipping/delivery = $2486.98 (ouch)

From Onecall it is $1709.10 with free shipping and a free stand + $120 shipping on stand = $1829.10. You must pay shipping on the stand.

Your possible Savings: $2486.98 - $1829.10 = $657.88. Not too bad if you were in the market.

Enjoy,

EDIT: Upgraded topic to Hot Deal
This just in....

Final Price $1789.10 total savings of $710.88

Shows out of stock. I called and they said that they are in transit to them. They said they would ship in 2 or 3 business days. If you order be sure to eat your wheaties, the tv weighs 143lbs

Updated price in topic.

The stand does not qualify for free shipping. I had posted earlier that it was. Phone call this morning explained to me that it is not free shipping on stand. They wouldn't budge on that fact either.

The tv is a brand new line. I have yet to find any reviews. I have looked at a lot of rear projection tv's. I found that the sony on hdtv programming was superior to other tv's on the same programming. I was origiannly interested in a 32" tube tv but the prices are very close to the price I paid here. I could not justify passing up this deal. Although now.. I may have to knock out a wall to fit the tv lol.

I'm in the market for a new TV as well.

Been reading the avsforum which has tons of info ... but leaning towards a 32" or 36" wega tube. But the price difference is making it tough to overlook these new rear projection ones.

some threads @ avs about this new sony 46":

UPDATE: Stand does not qualify for free shipping. I spoke with a vice president and he said he would make it up to me since the person I spoke to last night told me that it was included. I was quite disappointed that the deal was getting sour.

I still got the tv and stand for about $120 more. So $1769 shipped. Still a very good deal. But man $1649.10 was better.

Tell them Trace McQuaig sent ya so I can get my 2% of your order back

Ditto. I am interested in one of these, but would like to hear from someone who's seen it or compared it side by side with other units.

so charging you $120 shipping for the stand is making it up to you?

No. Future discounts with future purchases. I plan on buying a HD capable DirectTV reciever. Hopefully they will cut me a very nice deal to make up for the $120 they tacked on at the last possible second.

If the TV wasn't a Xmas present to me and my wife from ourselves I would have canceled the order and let them know that changing a deal at the last second is not how I do business. You should stand behind your employee's word. I could see if they guy had said the tv was 50% off or something then yea its obvious that that is not going to happen. But free shipping on the stand also seems pretty reasonable to me. $120 shipping on a stand does not seem reasonable at all. I am still thinking about canceling the order. However $1709.10 + $120 = $1829.10 - $60 = $1769.10 which is still very very cheap for the item.

I have heard that someone else was only charged $80 shipping. I am going to call and inquire as to why it is so much more to ship it to me.

You can get the KP-51WS500 51" Hi-Scan 1080i® 16:9 Projection Television for $1919 shipped from OneCall.com(This price includes the $60 discount from the coupon) (Plus tax if you live in Washington State). Why not get a much bigger TV for a small price increase. After you are forced to pay for the stand, the deal above turns out to not be so hot...

You can also get the KP-57WS500 57" Hi-Scan 1080i® 16:9 Projection Television for $2169 shipped from OneCall, which is a considerably larger HDTV.(This price includes the $80 coupon discount). If you are a Washington resident, it is cheaper to order the 57" from my.sony.com with 4500 "sony points", which are not difficult to acquire. The my.sony.com price is $2100 shipped(plus tax if applicable in your state, any Oregon residents buying???). Onecall.com may even match their price and possibly let you use the coupon on top of it

I've been reading a bunch on RPTV's (on the AVS forums). I finally decided on the Toshiba 42HDX82. I paid $1699 (total including tax) at a local Video Only. I am very happy with the purchase, old regular cable TV looks much better than I could have imagined (It looked crappy on a 53HX71 I purchased last year and then returned). They have really improved the "stretch" modes on the newer models. DVD on a progressive scan DVD player with component out video is gorgeous. I sit 8-13' from my TV and 42" 16:9 ratio seems just about right. Another option for those of you looking.....

Well it has arrived.
Packaged very well. Took 3 people to get it in the house. Assembled the stand, set the tv on top of it. Looks very clean and flush. The stand looks as though it is part of the television.

Tons of inputs on the back 7 video sources. DVI port like on most video cards now days. Although the book with the tv says not hook up a computer to it. I am thinking of trying it. The television remote is very easy to use. Front half of the remote flips up to allow for numerical input of stations and some advanced menu stuff. The remote has a joystick like button which is very easy to use for navigating the menu systems on my devices. Satellite using svideo looks very good. However i am only sitting about 7 feet away from the television so I can notice the imperfections of regular signal 640x480i blown up to be 46" diagonally. I am upgrading from a 23" television so the picture is twice a big for me. Plus it is widescreen which is something I am not used to. At first I didn't know if I liked the television or not. I hooked up my xbox to it. I bought the HD adapter for it. Put in Halo. Set it up to do Progressive scan at 480. Looks good. Its not exactly night and day. But yea some detail lines don't quite show up as much as they used to. Looks a little more like fluid motion. Ok lets try DVD. Bought a $12 rca component cable, red blue green. Stuck in Star Wars II attack of the clones. Progressive scan. Fowarded to the part where the droid puts the centipede looking things through the window. Looks good. Can see all the little legs on the bugs real well.

All in all I think it will take a bit of time getting used to such a big tv. I live in an apartment and just need more room I believe. Sorry for the short review but I am real busy at work. I will post a good one on www.audioreview.com when I get time.

How is the line doubling on it and the velocity scan modulation?

I'll be in the market for a projection TV soon (have a 36XBR400 now).

Actually, the area of the screen would be about 3.5 times as large.
