Please respect the freedom of speech of the filmmakers of a great movie, and don't abuse the one thing (Freedom of speech) that allows you to protest the movie, hence trying to prevent the filmmakers from excercising their FoS. In other words, if you don't like it, don't watch it, but don't preach to others not to watch it, because that just makes ppl mad and is not productive.

I'm going to express my opinion that this is a completely moronic statement that, among other logic flas, is self-contradictory. You encourage the respect of freedom of speech, but then you instuct the person exercising that freedom to keep their opinions to themselves because its makes "people mad." Wow.

Of course, "Speech" means you are communicating you ideas, not keeping it to yourself. And as many times as I have read the Constitution, I have yet to find the part that says our right to free speech ends when someone gets mad at our opinion.

I'll leave for later the deficiences in your argument that encouraging a boycott of a movie infringes on the filmmakers freedom of speech.

Peace.

" We're supposed to be Boycotting this movie "

Who is we and why are we "supposed" to boycott this movie? The links you included bash the bush administration, but remember that Bill "Commy" Clinton is the one that created the predicament the U.S was in, in Somalia. No clue whay he was there, war seemed like an easy way for him to pick up popularity points, and got U.S. soldiers killed by not properly arming them for the conflict.

I went to a World Economic Forum protest in NYC. Due to police barricades that re-routed people AWAY from the protest site (freedom of speech?), we ended up in front of Lowes THeater in Times Square. The chants were transmuted from "W.E.F. -- Shut it down" to "Black Hawk -- Shoot it down". I thought about the freedom of speech issues and wondered how a W.E.F. protest would end up at a movie theater. I didnt know, as I'm sure many of you out there in movieland dont, that BHD was on anyone's hit list. I talked to people about it and did some reasearch when I got back home. Now I am able to make an informed decision on whether or not I think this movie was a strategic pawn at a time when Somalia wasnt looking so good on the USA's buddies list.

Thanks to the world of HOT DEALS and http links, so can you.

We're supposed to be Boycotting this movie because it is war propaganda that was approved by the US government as a tool to make the population believe that Somalia is a country we should be at war with.

marcoco:

Just in case you didn't know this was a story about real people. One of the pilots killed was a friend of mine. I worked with him for almost 5 years.

Its a freakin movie. I'm sure you could find something to boycott in every movie ever made. Yoda being green made a negative racial statement against green alien life forms. Get a life and try to enjoy it.

Marcoco and others,

First off, the reason we (USA) was involved in Somalia was because of the mass starvation of innocent people and there not being a stable government in Somalia that could help its own people. So the USA was there for humanitarian reasons at first, but when the food aid was being stolen by the local war lords as to gain control over the people that's when the USA military stepped in to stop the hi-jacking of food aid trucks.

Second, war is never a pretty thing and being that the USA is the greatest nation in the world we take on the humanitarian position to help out other countries in need along with military help as well. Weather your opinion of war is 'boycotting' it or 'participating' in it, it's a fact of life so get used to it.

As far as I am concerned, I would have never joined the military before 9/11, but after 9/11 I would not hesitate if the draft came around to enlist and go kill me some 'taliban/al-Quade' mother-f@*#ers.

Just remember this, when your chanting 'boycott' this 'boycott' that, all the enlisted men and women in the military are giving there life so that we can all enjoy the freedom we have in America.

So don't waste your breath boycotting war and military issue's, go and boycott some corporate American company who is taking advantage of the little guy.

Id call em up, I got mine automagically after they shipped Oceans. Recieved the email and then turned around and got Blackhawk, plan on turning that $10 around and getting LOTR or beautiful minds. I think the $10 is the only viable deal, since with shipping and order fee, I could go into B&M which is real close to my house

Just want to say I have no problem with this movie and I am not part of this boycot but I just have to ask:

What the hell does starving Somalis have to do with my freedom?

Well Phreakyzen,

Your question is cynical. I mentioned the above quote to help the 'boycotter's' understand that military is a part of freedom and a part to our survival. If it wasn't for our military in WWII you might be speaking German right now.

and for Somalia,

Its called compassion for human life. Think of America as being 'Big Brother' to all other nations, as a free nation do we sit back and watch other humans starve to death in other countries or do we have compassion and do the right thing. The USA is the richest country in the world (not just in money but food, technology, etc). If we decide to help a nation in need and the aid we bring to this nation is sabotaged by some ruthless individuals, do we just sit back and watch or do we 'do the right thing'.

Unfortunately, our military personal not only have to defend our freedom but they have to be called upon to other military action as well, like Somalia.

I havent seen the movie, but here's some info about it:

Workers.org

International A.N.S.W.E.R

BHD Exposed

International Action center

Yeah, don't actually see the movie, just regurgiate some leftist propaganda.

I don't see how FACTS could be propaganda. The movie stays pretty close to the book, which is used by the military as the official account of the battle.

Their complaints seem to boil down to two things; the movie portrayed the somalis as bad guys and "inhuman"-never mind several scenes of dying somalis made to make you feel sorry for them, or characters expounding on the stupidity and hopelessness of the situation, including somali characters. And the other complaint is that it doesn't cover enough background of the battle, never mind that IT IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY, and is only about that one battle, and the experience of the rangers and delta force guys involved, not a political movie about the entire operation.

How the giant clusterfuuck that was somalia could ever be construed as propaganda I have no idea. Propaganda generally doesn' t portray the government as bubbling, stupid, over confident, and without any idea of what it was really doing there.

It's a great movie and you're missing out if you don't see it.

I also received the shipping confirmation email yesterday but didn't receive any coupon code for the $10 GC. I'll call them up when my movie gets here. I am going to use the $10 GC to purchase LOTR.

Strange. I haven't received my shipping notice via email, but when I did an order status on it, it says it shipped today. Obviously I haven't received my coupon either. I guess they must be slow sending the stuff out.

Also, I'm going to pick it up in-store, does that effect anything?
