Thanks, RM.

Dell's online order status notification tool sucks. It barely shows that I placed an order.
I did now get the order confirmation and it doesn't say anything about a rebate...
I'll have to give them a call tomorrow, I guess and find out if I should cancel the order.

Good idea. I would not jump to any rash conclusions, maybe tomorrow your entire order will be online and you will see the rebate? Who knows.

If you call and the CSR says YES you will get the rebate, do yourself a huge favor and document their first name, last name, badge number, extension, date and time. Even ask them to e-mail that in writing to you stating you WILL receive the rebate.

Good luck!

I hate Dell and I gave it a try hoping to screw them out of money. Probably result in giving myself headaches. Anyway, thanks for everyone's help!

Anyone wants to buy the coupon should also look it up at FW. People usually sell it for less than ebay over there, and there are times you get it for free. One guy dumped like 30 15% off code in a thread several hours ago.

I'll admit that $515 for a 15" LCD CDRW/DVD laptop is CHEAP.

Unfortunately you get what you pay for: I have to agree with Rossman's initial post. This thing is a DOG. I have set up a few of them and they are SSSSOOOOO SSSSSSLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW, it's unbelievable (2 minutes to boot with optimized configuration) and lots of visible screen writes even at low load. No comparison to the 5100 or the 5150, which even stripped perform very fast.

This thing is a burden for anything but simple wordporcessing and browsing and even then.

So even at this price I would not touch one with a stick - spend the extra $$$ and get the 5100 there was a real good deal on them (873 or so) around a few days ago or otherwise WAIT.

i just bought 3 600m's for friends. I get 1/2 the rebate since I did all the buying and am taking the risk with the rebate =) And now I just bought another 3 1100. Couldn't resist. I'll probably replace my laptop now with one of them and give it to my kids!

My question is about the rebate. Do those 2 rebates clash with 1 another as I know there's 5 rebates per promotion. And also, would I be able to use 2 different address to submit the 2 sets of rebates separately? I've only purchased once before from dell sb with a rebate so I don't know.=(

i've had this sucker sitting in my cart since 4pm but can't get the rebate to show up under details like everybodys else says theirs did earlier

2 mins to boot...I don't know what you were doing DRASTICALLY different than me, but you aren't doing anything near an optimized boot. I haven't done anything but install Windows xp and a couple other programs. I haven't taken any of those things that are sometimes suggested to speed up the boot, and my boot takes 33 seconds to window screen and 37 seconds to actual full boot with no activity going on. I can cut it on and cut it off completely in under 1 minute. You're way off in your boot times.

Next, I'm sure the 5100 would be considerably faster on most tasks, but for those looking for a laptop on the cheap, you can't overlook this laptop. I paid aver $600 for mine, and I thought I got a great deal. If I could even think about using another, I would have jumped on this. Don't expect a gaming machine, but for everyday tasks, this laptop is (IMO) unbeatable at $515.

I set up one 1100 and it was slow, especially with the initial 128MB RAM. Once I upgraded to 256MB, it was OK. It certainly didn't take 2 minutes to boot, though.

i rather get a second hand notebook than Dell... many of my friends who purchased Dell's laptop complained about it after one month or two, and one guy complained about it after a few days!!
i mean it...
they all loved it when they paid it, but it breaks down easily.
well, the notebooks still function, but why pick a laptop that ALWAYS come with a few MINOR problem.

15% + 10% worked. All I see at the top of the page is Inspiron 1100 $949 Price shown is before $250 Rebate, no radio button for $250 rebate. Oh well, shipping date isn't until 11/7/03 so it should be plenty of time to talk to Dell about it and cancel if they don't honor it. Does any have a receipt with a sku or product id next to the $250 rebate? I noticed someone posted the $300 rebate with that information. Would probably be helpful in dealing with Dell support!

There should be an argument being I have screen prints saying the price is before $250 rebate. Not holding my breath, but there's a possibility.

Hmm...my ~2 year old 8100 usually takes way longer than 2 minutes to boot.
Given it's been on for ~2 years non-stop and I haven't reinstalled it, there must be too many craps in the background...
One of these days, I'll reinstall it, hack, I'm going to make it my New Year Resolution.
