Thanks, RM.
Dell's online order status notification tool sucks. It barely shows that I placed an order.
I did now get the order confirmation and it doesn't say anything about a rebate...
I'll have to give them a call tomorrow, I guess and find out if I should cancel the order.
Excellent advice. Thanks.Originally posted by: RossMAN

Good idea. I would not jump to any rash conclusions, maybe tomorrow your entire order will be online and you will see the rebate? Who knows.
If you call and the CSR says YES you will get the rebate, do yourself a huge favor and document their first name, last name, badge number, extension, date and time. Even ask them to e-mail that in writing to you stating you WILL receive the rebate.
Good luck!

Unfortunately you get what you pay for: I have to agree with Rossman's initial post. This thing is a DOG. I have set up a few of them and they are SSSSOOOOO SSSSSSLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW, it's unbelievable (2 minutes to boot with optimized configuration) and lots of visible screen writes even at low load. No comparison to the 5100 or the 5150, which even stripped perform very fast.
This thing is a burden for anything but simple wordporcessing and browsing and even then.
So even at this price I would not touch one with a stick - spend the extra $$$ and get the 5100 there was a real good deal on them (873 or so) around a few days ago or otherwise WAIT.

I would take a Compaq/HW packard with an Athlon over this? Would anyone else? I am just wondering? Also, where do you get all the promo codes? I am on Dell's email list, if anyone has an extra let me know!

2 mins to boot...I don't know what you were doing DRASTICALLY different than me, but you aren't doing anything near an optimized boot. I haven't done anything but install Windows xp and a couple other programs. I haven't taken any of those things that are sometimes suggested to speed up the boot, and my boot takes 33 seconds to window screen and 37 seconds to actual full boot with no activity going on. I can cut it on and cut it off completely in under 1 minute. You're way off in your boot times.
Next, I'm sure the 5100 would be considerably faster on most tasks, but for those looking for a laptop on the cheap, you can't overlook this laptop. I paid aver $600 for mine, and I thought I got a great deal. If I could even think about using another, I would have jumped on this. Don't expect a gaming machine, but for everyday tasks, this laptop is (IMO) unbeatable at $515.
