Yep that's the trouble with large LCDs...if you don't like the super teeny resolutions, you're stuck with a fuzzy display - comletely negating any of the lusty benefits of the display...

Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember CS only supports up to 1280x960 the last time I played it on my 18" LCD (Not this Dell unit), it looks terrible on it.

I use 1600x1200 on a 15.1" laptop screen. It's very readable because the pixels are so small, making the text razor sharp. Funny, I find 1280x1024 on 18.1" makes text look huge!

1280x1024 is super tiny? What size monitor and resolution do you use?

Of course text would appear bigger on the 18"... first off, it's a bigger screen. Second of all, the resolution is smaller, sooooo the text would be larger. And 1600x1200 on a laptop isn't so bad, because you sit closer when you use a laptop. I would hate to use 1600x1200 on a 15" LCD.

Yep the green light is definately my worst feature of this monitor. I originally set it up with cleartype and the text looked all blurry and blended together, I shut that off and now its quite a bit better. What brightness and resolution are you guys running? What about color temp, It seems that 6500 looks like crap to me, but I just want to make sure i have this set up right.

Im playing windowed, so the pixels are still one to one. I played a little more, and while it doesnt seem to ghost anymore, It just doesnt seem fluid. Oh well, its fine for me, I was just hoping for a more dramatic increase from my old lcd.

Yeah I made a mistake, I know I said the 6500 looks like crap, but it was the other way around the 9300 is the crappy one, too blue I think. I do have brightness set to 100 as well as contrast, but i lowered the brightness of my video card a tad.

I tried 65/100. Waaaay too bright for me. My eyes hurt on anything above 30 brightness.

yeah, i had mine at 100 earlier today, and figured I'd try lower...stopped at 65 to see how it looked for a while...still a bit bright though...putting it at 50 now.

Got mine today (UPS was uber late, 7pm delievery). Flawless. No dead pixels and looks great so far in analog. Whats the best way to save power/ lcd life with regards to powering off/stand by mode? Most of the time its going to be on all day in use and off at night.

Yeah, thanks, I never even noticed the green light, now I do

I'm off to get some black electrical tape to cover up the Dell logo. I find the logo more annoying than the light.

Oh yeah, and this monitor rocks for $384. No dead pixels. Text razor sharp. Colors vibrant. Now I wonder how I lived without it. If I can just not tempt myself to get the 2000fp, I'll be set.
