The 1 year warranty is actually in the manual. 3 years is the average warranty that is covered by system warranties. This is the reason for the mixup. If you buy the monitor with a system with a 3 year warranty then you get the extended coverage from your system warranty. The year warranty is however parts and labor.

If you go check out the reviews, the 2000 is far superior to the 1800 (not just in size, but in contrast, striping, etc.). If you can come up w/ the extra $$$ its definately hot.

These monitor deals are driving me crazy. I've been dodging them since last fall, but it seems every two weeks there is an even better deal and I have the internal debate as to whether this is the deal for me. I would love to get the 2000FP, but $700+ is still too rich for my blood. Maybe Anandtech should have a thread filter where I could eliminate anything with monitor or LCD in it. Maybe even filter out Dell.

I checked with customer service and the warranty is 3 years. I believe that the response time is 25ms. I got a deal on this monitor about a month ago and have been very happy. Got em while you can!

This monitor is great. The response time is fine for games...only the real hardcore gamers should look elsewhere. I have been gaming for many a moon and cannot see any ghosting in games. The only caveat I have is with the contrast ratio. If you want to use this for darker movies (like lotr) it's not the best.

This is not the case. I spoke with both tech support and customer service. You link brings you to a sign in page and unless you can put in a dell system code or service tag it will show you nothing. The monitor warranty is 1 year not 3. I don't want anyone to come back and bite at you Ross that's why I'm stating this. Customer service doesn't even have a clue plus you have need to ask for it in writing. Ask the tech support person you contact to send you an email stating the warranty. I did and it clearly states monitors purchased as accessories that are Dell branded only have a 1year warranty unless purchased with a system. Then the systems warranty supercedes any previous warranty statements made. Again get this in writing. Or better yet if you can host what Dell's site says with the http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/monitors/1800FP/English/warranty.htm link then please do as 1 year is not that long on an LCD.
