Hey,
Does anybody know whether or not I would void the warentee on this system if I was to go a stick in a 56k Modem (PCI.) I didn't feel like paying dell an extra $30 for their modem, was that a mistake?

XNice,
you have equilibrium, message me, I want to see if i can get that movie from you.

Also, I have one of those dell small business ystem in my cart and I can still get it for 680 shipped + tax w/ 18.1 lcd, is it worth it? I'm not sure why i still have it in my cart when I login but I'm assuming I can still place the order for the system before they change it all. It still has the floppy drive with it.

I am convinced the people who work for Dell are complete morons. After all this dicking around they realized that they were using the wrong 3 digit id for my Visa.

That is sweet indeed. Last night I finally hooked up my old Samsung CRT monitor to my old server machine. The Ultrasharp replaced the Samsung, which used to be the display for my lappie when docked.

The Samsung and the Ultrasharp are side by side and the Samsung looks downright putrid next to the FP1800. And at that, I'm running the FP1800 on an analog VGA connection at 1024 x 768 (please don't ask why, long story).

Congrats on getting in on the deal!

OMFG the customer service reps at Dell are morons. This is what happened:

I ordered two systems: one for myself and one for my college-bound sister. Sister calls and says she wants a laptop instead. I order the laptop using the 10% off coupon on Sunday.

Monday I call Dell, try to get a customer service representative so I can cancel my sister's desktop. After wading through several "choose # to speak to X" messages, I get "this number is no longer in service." Fine. I hang up and send an email to the address listed in my confirmation email.

Although it was only like, I dunno, 1 p.m. PST when I sent the email, I didn't get a response until this morning. This is what I received in reply:

"Hello,
I am sorry This order shipped before we received this email.
In order to Arrange for a return and a credit you will need to Contact Customer Service
Please Phone #(800)901-3355 ext 68938
Thank You"

Now, forget for a moment that this message looks like it was written by someone who is five years old. I go online to check my shipping status, and of the three systems I ordered over the weekend, only the one I tried to cancel has shipped! Suspicious? No...

Now I have to deal with the pain of trying to get my family to refuse the right package, since they have two (or possibly four, with the free printers I chose) coming their way. ARGH...

Ahhh yes the old let's rush him the computer so he won't have a chance to cancel trick, that is very suspicious.

And that email I don't know how you made anything out of it, it to is rather suspicious...

More than likely if you open up the case you will void the warranty.

I doubt that. I've added to my Dell system and then resold it later. Dell only wants their techs or you messing with the pc and not a third party. If you let a third party touch it, you will void the warranty. Who would know though?

It appears that Dell is now offering this same deal with a 2.2 P4 processor upgrade for free. No 10% stackable coupon though, so it's not quite as hot. Wish this system had a P4 2.2 instead of a Celery though.

We're sorry, but while you were shopping, we may have been updating our database and made one of the options you selected for this product no longer valid. Please select this link to re-configure the affected system.

If selecting this link only results in a return to this page, then there is a problem with the product in our database, or the link you are using to customize the system is broken and should be fixed shortly. You may be able to access the product via other links on our site. Try clicking "Buy-A-Dell" to view the main links into the Dell Store.

Everytime i select the FP1800 i get this error. I think this deal is dying/ They also raised the price 20 bucks. Pew i wish i couldve gotten another one of these lcds.

Did anyone get in on the P4 2.2 deal instead of the Celeron 2 gigger? If so, did you get to use the 10% coupon also? I just checked my order and it shipped already. I would've liked the P4 instead of the Celeron. Oh well.

Coupon is long dead.

I'm using the celeron system right now. I've already upgraded the ram which helped. I've got this sold already and it's just gonna be an office computer so this should work out great for them. It's a nice simple case and very quiet which is nice.

There is no warranty sticker that won't let you open the case at all. Put that modem in and your warranty will not be voided. The cause is extremely easy to open, I shoulda ordered 2 systems now that I think about it

I got my system, my dell 18.1 has two dead sub pixil, i'm getting a replacement from dell. I hope the new one will be great. You have 30 days to get a new replacement. To check for dead pixils use www.monitorsdirect.com site.

Love the monitor.

Is the monitor packaged in the pc box? I just got my computer box today and has a packing slip for the computer and monitor, but I can't see how it would be packaged in the same box. Also, where did they package the PDA? I'm asking because I'd like to keep the pc box sealed if I can for now.

Yes.. 10% coupon is dead. I think it died 2 days ago, but I was wondering if anyone managed to get the P4 upgrade along with the 10% off deal? Also, it appears that even though the P4 system is $499, the 18" monitor upgrade is a lot more money now, so it kind of kills the deal.

I was going to jump on this deal but only if I was going to be able to sell the system for at least $400.

No one I knew needed a system and the ones on ebay aren't going for too much.

So I'm going to pass, $250 is great for an 18" LCD but for $600 I might as well spend a little more and get a really good LCD.

If only I was able to get in with the extra 10%

The system for my parents shipped today.

Monitor is nice, hard drive is slow, system is sluggish, probably needs more ram. Still a pretty good deal overall.

dmak, thanks for the tip on using the tests at monitorsdirect.com.

I found one dead pixel...should I worry about it? I LOVE the monitor. What did Dell offer? Do they ship a replacement and let you keep the current one until it arrives? I am quite attached to it now, don't wanna give it up, even if it is a week.

Thanks!
