Is it safe to call Dell and ask to upgrade the processor from Cel 2.0 to P4 2.4 800FSB NOW - I have confirmation email already and changed my mind, I was to cheap last night.
Do they do it and if, for the initial $99 price difference ?

Nope, Dell will make your cancel your 1st order then buy it again @ the correct/new

price.

You may get a very nice CSR though & it can & does happen. You could on the other hand mess~up your whole deal.

Thank you for the warning. I started the call with SB Customer Support but she said after verifying me 10x worse than a bank that she can't do it. She wanted to connect me to Sales when I read on the screen your warning and I hanged up.

Actually you guys are incorrect. I ordered the 2.0 celery last night and I couldn't sleep all night so I just called and asked them to change the order to 2.4GHZ P4 800FSB and was just charged the additional $99 without any problems. Even got the confirmation from the CSR on the PDA and mail in rebate.

BTW:- I did receive a new order # with a little later ship date.

Are you sure about the price ?
I called Sales and was given the info that the initial order would have to be cancelled. I did not want to stir the hornets nest by asking about keeping the last night pricing..should I ?

I would give it a shot if you really want to. I did it with no problems. I asked them if the current order would have been cancelled and they did say yes but.. I was still getting all the discounts etc. My total before rebate is $400 with the free PDA. So it would be $300 after rebate.

It's very interesting. Dell didn't only pull the deal early this time, I guess they are pushing deal sites and forums ($lickdeal$, techb@rg@ins, f@tw@llet etc.) to remove the expired deal info and discussion on their sites as well.

They are all gone, like it never happened.
