the drive cost more at sb, and home is taxless for most/more people.

Had $10 tax at Home :frown: but got the drive anyway - hope the rebates go through!

One says they will accept the UPC OR capacity label, the other says UPC only. I say put the corresponding on with each rebate. It appears they go to the same location, though, with the same PO Box...

Edit: you're absolutely correct.

I think you meant to say:

"One says they will accept the UPC OR capacity label, the other says capacity label only.. "

15.56 in tax to FL, so provided it flies, it works out to just under 19 cents/gig. Wow!

I needed a new drive so this one is a no-brainer for me. In addition I'm going to use a different address for the second rebate - hopefully it will increase my chances...

hello

Just ordered one from DELL EPP. I had an EPP 20% off coupon lying with me. Total came out like this:

Drive: $246.95
-20%: $ 49.39
total: $197.56
Tax: $14.53

NET TOTAL: $212.09 SHIPPED (better than DELL HOME)

i printed out all the pages showing $200 in rebates. So if it doesnt go through, i will contact DELL about it.

Lestan, I might be careful on the two address thing. There's a chance it might mess you up. Safest to call the 800 number tomorrow and just straight up ask.

Hmm yeah, good point, they might link the receipt. Better safe than sorry.

I agree the rebates are two distinctively different rebates. What is the consensus with regard to dell rebates? I've never dealt with them with regard to rebates so I'm curious.

These are WD rebates, not Dell rebates...they go to Young America, which is an efficient rebate center. I've been burned on only a few, and those were all from New Rochelle...:disgust:

Not like it changes the choice to jump on this, but anyone understand WD warranty?

I didn't see any mention of warranty on the Dell site. The same drive (but with a PCI/ATA controller) at the Dell retail site says a 3 year warranty. It seems that that would certainly apply here - yes?

Just got an order confirmation. Checked credit card and it has been charged/authorized, one or the other.

Hello guys

I would say that DELL rebates are generally pretty good. If the rebates mess up, but you have proper paper work, you will get your rebates if you put a good enough fight (takes time though). I hope that most of you still remember the DELL DIMENSION 8250 Deal last November from DELL EPP for $70 AR. We all had to put up a big fight for it. I had all my paper work and got all my rebates after about 6 months.

I would say to printout everything that indicates $200 in rebates and if something happens, just contact DELL and take it up with them. Good Luck all.

PS: And i thought that CC deal for 200GB (160 gb retail packing) was good for $54.xx AR/PM. If this HD deal comes through, i will have ~520GB of storage (need to sell my WD 120GB...any takers? )

While these are two different rebates because of the purchase date requirements they both go to the same place and they both show, "only one rebate per customer", however dell specifically states that this drive has up to $200 in mail in rebates.

My question is what is or would be dells policy if one of the rebates were rejected?

Definitely friggin hot if you get both rebates!!

I've received every rebate I've ever applied for (about 100) but I'm a little concerned about this one messing up my record. Everything looks good but the fact that the address and description are almost identical for both these rebates. If there was a promotion number or something to distinguish between the two it would be more believeable. Young America is the best center but even they may be hard to deal with if an extra $100 is involved. At least the deal is still not bad even if one rebate doesn't work.

Got a stupid question:

Is the original receipt just the pack list in the plastic bag outside the box?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Dell honored such rebate fiascos in the past? I distinctly remember a 160 GB deal or 120 GB deal about six months ago...

Please find a link with people that said they actually got both rebates!! If it's happened before and people got them then I'm in!

Yep that's why I said they were two different rebates.

Also every recent WD hard drive I've purchased have come with two proofs of purchase and one capacity lable (or maybe it was the other way around).

In about 4 hours this deal is bound to be dead, but who knows maybe they will honor orders already placed, and if it goes sour we can always cancel with shipping dates like a week away. I have my finger hovering over the final submit right now. ....
