I jumped all over this deal. One of the rebates is off the site now. I downloade both... they should honor both since they require different things (one UPC, the other capacity label). Since we are able to meet requirements of both rebates, it should be honored. Fingers crossed...

I call them up and they said both rebate are the same and only honer one because the rebate go to the same address and your receipt are the same so they cross check. "Limit one rebate per customer/name/address." give them the right to through away the duplicate rebate. Well $100+Tax /200GB drive still OK deal.

Again, since both are going to the same po box, i ***HIGHLY*** doubt that any of you will get both rebates.

If it was a different address, then it would definitely be a possibility, but just because the name portion of the address differs doesn't mean jack. The physical address is still the same.


As others have suggested, what probably happened was they screwed up the dates.. rather than having them distinct, they were slightly overlapping.

if they make a mistake over overlapping the dates, then the 2nd rebate should read 9/28 - 10/1 only 3 days? anyways, I ordered, I'm counting on 1 rebate to go through. 2nd rebate is 50/50.

One thing I'm going to do is send the rebate to DIFFERENT return addresses. might help

You can say they posted the rebates in error all you want, but when the site says "Up to $200 in mail in rebates available" that means you CAN get $200 back. That's what it said. Most of us saved a screenshot. Nuff said.

Can somebody send me a screenshot of the 200$ off? I printed out both of the mail-in rebates the other day but forgot to take an SS of the 200 dollars off. I think I'll also be putting down two different names and addresses for the rebates just to see if I can sneak my way through the fight.

I recently did the 160gig wdse from bestbuy 09/30/03 end date $70.00+ $30.00 from BB
and then i did the 160gig WDSE from Circuit city 09/01/03 start date $70.00 + $30.00 from CC

these should be fine cause the dates don't overlap right????

that means they are totally different rebates, and I am not doing more than 1 rebate to Western Digital on the same drive.

Did anybody else do this,and they were the 200 gigers in the 160 giger boxes too.
so i will have a 400gig raid 0 array for like $220.00 total.

It means you can get up to $200 back.

Looks to me like they did away with that HDD altogether.

EDIT: I certainly hope that these orders go through for all of you who've placed one or two...or three...and that you get both of the rebates, but I'm very sceptical about it.

Spoke with WD rebate CSR. She told me that they will only honor one rebate or the other. She stated that this was a mistake on the part of Dell.

I'm not sure that the extra time spent fighting this one with an uncertain outcome is worth $100.




Did you know that Dell's ResellerRatings are 3.6/10?? Similarly poor score for Dell at Pricegrabber with a 2.35/5 and 91 negatives vs. 45 positives. Scary!

Yet their BizRate merchant rating roughly 87% positive - I wonder why the disparity?

Well, Dell won't honor either of the rebates and that isn't who we should be worried about. The rebates are through WD not Dell. So getting WD to honor both of the rebates is the X factor.

In the past, Dell has covered misleading rebate offers to keep people happy. My post was simply saying that they are not going to do that anymore. Further, they specifically told me that they were in contact with WD and WD refused to honor them.

Do you think that this will be enough? I know that if Albertson's posted something like that at the supermarket they would get fined thousands and forced to follow through, but since the internet is less reliable a medium, they may be able to weasel out citing server error, much like mail order catalogs can claim typos.

I cancelled as well. I don't think anyone will be getting BOTH the rebates to go through. It's not a bad deal with just one rebate, but i just bought a new HD recently so i don't need the space badly enough to go through the hassle.

From my understanding this is the bare drive not retail kit so it's not qualified for any rebate.
