If company's like Dell want to tap into the enormous opportunities (Cu$tomer$ like U + ME) that exist on the WWW then they need to conduct business in a responsible manner and be held accountable when one of their employees makes a "mistake". If you were to go to an auto dealership or an appliance store etc.. and make a deal for merchandise then got home and received a phone call from the store/dealer stating that your order was cancelled because of an employee mistake and you could purchase the item at a new price, you would go ballistic and label the salespeople and the company thieves!
Dell is an experienced E-taler, and consistently post super deals and renig on them or correct them after people like us submit our orders with very valuable, marketable personal information. This information can be sold, used for Dell's marketing purposes or God forbid used by maliscious theives looking to steal identities.
I think this was a "Bait and Switch" tactic perpetrated by Dell for the sole purpose of collecting valuable, qualified sales leads which can be sold to other marketing outlets or most likely used by Dell themselves to market products for the upcoming holiday season. You have to admit it's an ingenious, very cost effective way of of gathering qualified leads.
A) Those who ordered one of these for personal use and not for profit should call Dell and demand they honor the deal, if they do not we need to spread the word bout their deceptive practices and hit them where it counts.
B) We also need to monitor their mail advertising carefully to see if those who created profiles today while attempting to make this purchase receive any marketing materials from Dell in the future (Assuming they never have in the past because they were not Dell customers until today).
C) We should contact our State Attorney Generals Office and see if we can get Dell to honor the deal or at least file a complaint.
Peace Out!!
