For what it is worth I looked into their forum information since the WD 200GB HD deal had a forum response. It seems to me that this is an excellent place to make a point. So I thought I'd include an address.

- Companies make mistakes. Good companies honor them. Dell showed they were a decent company last week when the two totally seperate rebates on the WD hard drive came about and they indicated they would honor the rebates for those who purchased them. When I bought my first Dell in 98, it was reliable and performed as I wanted. I have bought other dell computers, they are also reliable and good. It would something to see a company always do right by their customers - even by their own mistake. I significant gesture to show they really do value their customers. I'm watching and I hope you'll weigh in on the forum.
Hey I don't shop at Fry's or BestBuy because of their way of doing business. Fry's can't sell anything reliable to its customers (ever buy ram, or a laptop there?) and BestBuy won't back a warranty. If this becomes the way DELL does business, it will quickly spread and they will shrink because no one will look at them. It's like strike one with me.
- First time shame on you Dell, second time shame on me for continuing to do business with them.
PS think of this - if DELL really earned 40 Billion (yeah Billion) this year in revenue and say it is on track for 60 Bill in the next couple of years, then this is big but not that big. Even if they lost $300/system (conservative estimate) * 1,000,000 systems = 300,000,000. Yeah it is a lot to me (obviously if I'm trying to scrape out a 139.00 computer from dell) but not to DELL. 40 Billion / 356 days = 112 Million. So that is at worst 3 days earnings. I don't honestly believe that in a few hours of opportunity that this deal was available that a million of these computers were purchased. So worst case this is less than 1% of revenue. Plus this can be written off and minimized. I think this deal can and should be honored. Especially by the "leader of E-business".
