The deal is dead. You can't re-create it. Sorry. If it's any consolation I'm guessing even the people that did order won't get it.

What would be awesome is if they honored one system for each person. That would lower their loss by a lot, keep most everyone happy, and stick it to the ebay predators.

That would be awesome, I got two (one for me one for my sister) and if i got just one I would take the 9800 and put in a cheaper one for her and we would both be happy.

I'll agree with that. Just got my order confimation number. Only time will tell.

Well in that case i just got mine too.

I cannot believe how many forums are blowing up on this deal. A search on afew forums will show about 50,000 responses.... Its crazy. I dont see how dell can keep this deal with some arses over at f\/\/ ordering 10 and above.... ITs nuts.

1. honor 1 system per order
2. cancel all order
3. honor all order (unlikely), but with 3-6 weeks delay.

there is no way they eat up all the loss.

and dan.. I miss the deal.

I had 2 systems showing the $400 discount in my cart up to an hour ago. It let me get all the way to the place order screen. Dell finally emptied them from my cart. I already ordered 2 early this morning (7:30am) and received both emails for each order.

I placed my order at 12:20pm and received acknowledgement at 1:20 then the confirmation came in at 2:10 EST. But I can't find the order in the Dell order status site. So far I didn't get the cancellation email yet but reading all the reply from all the folks it sure doesn't look promising.

You guys are hilarious to even think Dell will honor this. Let's assume it is even just 10k systems and let's not even mention taxes... so:

$139 x 10,000 = $1,390,000 (payment from customers to Dell)
Assume Dell's cost is $500/system
$500 x 10,000 = $5,000,000

So, Dell's profit $1,390,000 - $5,000,000 = ($3,610,000)

And you guys expect Dell to say:

"To honor our mistake, we will be honoring this deal. Our customers are always right!"

I estimate that base systems in the original post cost Dell about $350 including parts, OS, assembly/testing, shipping and built-in cost for service & support. Why they didn't price out the base higher than that is pretty dumb.
