I think the 2001fp and 205fpw are supposed to be better for gamers, they have a faster response time. For me not being a gamer, I didn't think the extra inch was worth a nearly 50% price increase to move up from the 1905fp...

Thanks one7. I found the coupon code# but now the monitor doesn't appear at Dell. I will keep trying their web site but for now it's not displaying all monitors.

I got in on this for my parents. Nice deal. I thought 390 was a good deal when I bought mine also. I love this monitor!

They're showing up for me. Are you checking the small business site?

I just ordered mine for 330.81. They charged tax but still the best quality monitor near this price point. I considered AG Neovo F419, Hyundai L90D+, Planar PX-191 and 1910, Viewsonic Vp191 and most others with DVI inputs. Thats more than my two cents worth. I am not a gamer so refresh rate was not an issue for me.

Agreed. dognut... I certainly wasn't planning to upgrade to LCD for a while yet (trying to stick to a budget, heh...) but this is too good a value to pass up. The second one I picked up is for my mom... her vision is starting to deteriorate, and I this should be a terrific screen for her, with the large size and huge pixel pitch. Enjoy!

Tom's Hardware had a recent article about this monitor, and compared it with 7 (or was it 9?) other LCDs... iirc, they rated this one tops.

Dell does have their total satisfaction guarantee, so if you're not happy with it, I think you can return it and your only cost would be the return shipping... check Dell's return policy.

Well, if it helps any I have a 15" NEC LCD that's got a 25ms response and it's fine for gaming. I've played several games using it (e.g. Unreal Tournament, Quake III, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Doom III, Half-Life 2) over the past 3 years and no real noticable ghosting for me.

I guess judging by response time along doesn't seem to be an accurate way to measure it's quality. Plus, since the Dell has a Samsung panel it's suppose to be pretty good according to the Anandtech review.

I'm still sitting on the fence too. Not sure if now's the right time to pull the trigger, but the price is so tempting...

The anand review did a Max Payne and UT2k4 bench and it seemed like the reviewer had no problems with ghosting. He mentioned something about redness in Max Payne but that was fixed by altering the Blue/Green settings.

Oh yah, thanks OP, just jumped on this. One question though, I'm changing from a 17" CRT to this 19" LCD. How much of a difference will I notice in actual screen size? Any personal stories of how much of a difference you felt the first time you sat in front of your LCD after using a CRT forever?

Re: Going from 17" CRT to 19" LCD...

I have a 17" trinitron and a 19" Dell M993 at home, the screen real estate going from either one to this monitor is HUGE! I haven't actually received mine yet, but we have seven of these at work so I knew exactly what I was getting when I ordered. The first time you look at this when you plug it in it's going to seem gigantic, but it's amazing how quickly you can get used to it ;-)

My .02 on the gaming speed, a friend of mine ordered the L90D+ when it was $350 at Newegg, and I have run a few tests on the 1905s at work with UT2k3 and HL2. I have to admit the L90D+ is a little smoother in games, but the motion video quality is not very good at all (surprising considering the high refresh) and the overall construction of the L90D+ seemed a little flimsy to me. You might also want to check out the L90D+ thread, seems to be some quality control issues. If you're purely a gamer, then the L90D+ might be a better choice, but the 1905fp has a better balance of quality, accurate colors and speed. Just my opinion though.

Come on in, beany... the water's fine!

Side note: I'm probably being really dense, but being new here... can someone tell me what/who OP is? I've seen that a few times, but haven't picked up the reference yet...

I agree. I use a 19" LCD at work and it feels like it's similar to a 21" CRT a friend has. It's amazing.

I assume you're referring to the L90D+ when you said that "the overall construction of the unit seemed a little flimsy" to you. Am I right?

1905FP still sitting in cart. What to do, what to do.............

Great, your response got me so excited that the estimated ship date of next Monday is borderline unacceptable!

I bought the 1905fp a couple of weeks ago when it was $380. It was an excellent monitor for everything but gaming. the contrast was great and text was also sharp and clear.

But after playing HL2 for about 20 mins. I got a headache from the ghosting.

Returned it for the 2001fp and its much better for gaming. I can hardly detect any ghosting at all. The contrast is not quite as good as the 1905 but i'll give that up for a better gaming monitor.

And by the way I didn't have one dead pixel in either monitor.

Ugh, the ghosting is that bad? I wonder why they didn't mention that in the unreal + max payne tests in the AT review. I hope I don't have to return it and end up missing out on the coupon deal for the 2005fpw.

Couldn't resist any longer.

I'm in for one as well!

I'm not a real heavy gamer (If I've got time to spend over 1/2 hour gaming then I need to be more productive) lol.

Really interested in the Color Balance & accuracy of the monitor for my application.

Thanks for the heads~up OptimisTech
