The HD6770 is very close in performance to the GTX550Ti, which is still selling for a ridiculous $130. Unless you're going to go for the HD6850/6870, this HD6770 for $70 is definitely your best deal.

And yes, it can be crossfired with an HD5770, so those of you looking for a cheap upgrade to 5870 performance have it right here.

I think you meant to post this in your thread, not mine, LOL!

But to answer your question, $70 and $125 are completely different price classes, and the 6770 and 6850 perform quite differently as a result. The 6850 is about 40% faster: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/296?vs=291

Which is the better deal? Depends on your budget and your performance needs.

I just went to TomsHW and checked their Benchmark charts and you are right- There is a substantial gap, with the 6850 and 6870 relatively close and the 6770 less close and reflected price, just as you said

I'm working on a new HTPC and am trying to build a silent rig. Of course you can usually adjust the fan speed on most cards down to about 40%, but the 6770 also uses more power than my power supply will adequately provide. Well running with a propuss 820, full load with OCCT PSU test pulled 200-230w from the wall. (closer to 200 the 230 was just a blip) It was relatively quiet during initial testing before I slapped a water block on it. The system idles at 65-80w, HD video 75-85w and runs game graphics at 120-150w.
