I have gone through this and gone through this and I cannot find a second rebate to select anywhere. Can you tell me where I might look for it? Thanks, Bekker

It's right under the first MIR.

Total for me was $467.41 - $100 MIR - $100 MIR = 267.41

Not bad if both rebates come in.

I have no idea of what was going on before I followed the link provided. The various pages displayed were different for me than those for the link. Following the link I did find 2 rebates shown and selected both. The original path I followed gave only one rebate, but the price shown at the beginning was lower, so the results did not differ too much. I have a few in my shopping cart and am thinking of buying one to sell locally. I kept the monitor, mouse, and keyboard to make a complete package. The link posted also resulted in an extended 3 year warranty the other paths did not show, and the free shipping showed up from the link but not the other paths. Do you think it would be easily sold locally, advertised in the local newspaper, if I buy it for under $400 shipped? Thanks, Bekker

I ordered one of these. Both rebates show up on the order detail at the end. Each rebate has a different sku number.

Got it down to 410 - 100 - 100 = 210... figured if they don't want to honor the second coupon, then I can always dispute with my visa card.

there might be a problem with the 2x$100 rebate, as they have the same ID = 56

Catalog Number Description Product Code Sku Id

Mail-in Rebate: Save $100 with mail-in rebate. Price shown before rebate 10069Q4 [462-5928] 56
Mail-in Rebate: Save $100 with mail-in rebate. Price shown before rebate. 100Q4 [462-5880] 56

> can you explain how you got it to 410 (or 400) ??

sub the dvd-rom with cd-rom.

suppose both 2x$100 rebates comes after 10-12 weeks, $200 for a PC with a burner after rebate is good,
suppose only 1x$100 rebates comes, $300 is still warm

P.S.

1. btw, I believe 2400 has no room for extra extra hard drive, as the drive is mount vertically.
2. $200 rebates looks like a gamble in this situation.
3. U definitely need extra ram as 128MB memeroy won't cut these days in XP.
4. 2400 is by no means a gaming machine, has integrated grapics and no AGP slot

jimmyhaha i think you are right -- theres probably gonna be issue with the 2 rebates... so is ~300 for this system worth it (worst case)?

Linux should run on all intel based systems within reason... running Redhat 9 on my K6/3-450... runs fine. A P4 will make it fly even faster.

EDIT: intel based system should be x86 based systems.... sorry... using terminology we use at work.

Thanks OP, I've been waiting for a deal like this for a friend who needs a computer.
This will fit the bill perfectly.

Both rebates showed up for me, no problem, and they both show on the Order Summary, so I think there's a good chance that Dell will honor them even if it was a mistake.
If not, my friend can cancel the order if he wants, though, even at ~$330 this is still a decent deal, I think.

710 = Base price
70- = down memory from 256 --> 128 meg (since a 512 stick is about 75 in stores)
50- = down HD from 80 --> 40 ultra (or if choose 40 value, will get another $10 back)
30- = instead of 16x dvd --> 48x cd (since getting free 48x cdr in 2nd bay)
30- = change mouse from optical --> 2-button scroll
80- = no monitor
----------
450 = subtotal from 1st menu
40- = modify warranty from 2yr --> 1 yr
----------
410 = total from credit card
100- = rebate #1
100- = rebate #2
======
210 = total out of pocket in the end

I did notice on the e-mail notification that there is only 1 rebate listed... however, again, if paying by a Visa or Mastercard, they should have no problems disputing charge if dell doesn't honor it... have done it before when I bought my original DVD reader for PC....

Shipping was free but dell shows as $99 with $99 credit... if Dell really wants to make a big deal, an RMA could always be asked to return the unit to them, and that would cost them $99... if looking at worst case.

Linux from what I know runs on any x86 system, whether it be AMD, VIA/Cyrix, or Intel.

I know Linux *can* run on any of those systems... I guess my question is more or less if it would install smoothly i.e. no need to recompile kernel etc etc etc... things that could make life miserable.
