I don't mean to spam this thread, but why exactly do they run 333mhz RAM at 266, when the capability of the CPU and the mobo is 333mhz? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I'd hate to risk wasting more than just a sec looking up the answers myself.

November 5th, and my Dell is on the UPS truck for delivery today. I hope to Gosh that the rebates work out on this.

One scary thing about the rebates, to me, is that one won't know if they will be honored in time to return the order if they have a 30 day return policy unless there is some way to check beforehand. I would think they would absolutely have let you know prior to that or they would have to arrange pickup and return at their expense. I am still in a quandry about whether to order. Bekker

umm... i think the cpu on that mobo is 400fsb. it might be overclockale if the motherboard allows, but i don't think dell motheroards allow for overclocking. i could be wrong tho.

i think i have read other ppl note that if there are problems with their dell rebates, just make sure u have copies of everything. if and when a problem arises, just call dell and they credit u the rebate amount. just what i've heard...

good luck on the rebates. I think they might go through. Remember the $70 dimension 8250? That deal went through ok. Even though I didn't get in this deal, good luck to those who did.

Somone on fatwallet posted that they recieved their system with NO packing list! Hopefully it was just an oversite?

I am confused here: what kind of memory can I add: 333 or 266 RAM? If both are fine, can I mix them?

Are there two specific rebate forms for this deal or do you just send in 2 copies of the generic rabate form found here

A related question and partial answer: You only get one packaging list and need to fill out two of the generic forms, right? How do you do the 2nd rebate or do you just mail two rebate forms off with the packaging list?

PC2100 or PC2700 RAM can be used, but it will default to 2100 speed (266 MHz) because of the 400 MHz FSB. There are only two memory slots in this machine.

From what I understand, you fill out the rebate form and include the packing slip. The packing slip shows two rebates.

Relevant information from the form and website:
"Please submit only one form per system purchase."
"Rebate offer and amount will be listed on the system packing slip for qualifying Dell Home System purchases."
"NOTE: Only one form is required to redeem all rebates listed on your system packing slip."

why does it default to 266 when it's capably of 400? i'm... well... i'm confused
will it default to 266mhz if there's a 533fsb-capable chip instead of the 400 or would it go to 333mhz speed then?

hmm.. shouldn't it be defaulting to pc1600 speeds? 400fsb = 100mhz x 4
is that right?

For those who dont have their tracking number yet, you can get it from UPS. Go to www.ups.com and on the tracking page click on "Track by reference number" use your order number as the reference number and fill in the date range and zip/country and there you go.

I ordered on saturday late in the evening and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but still no tracking number on dells order status page, I called to get it from dell but the csr left off the "1Z" and said "A6A6A" when it was actually "A6868" that is when I remembered that some companies use order numbers for reference numbers.

Mine finally shipped yesterday. I ordered when it was still a 1 page thread at FW and I noticed many others who ordered later than I did had their system shipped earlier. Oh well. I hope both rebates show up on the packing slip. I only expect one, but if both show up I have a chance of receiving both.

ebates did still work. The discount showed up on my account last night. $8.20 isn't much, but it's free money. Or it made the 7200RPM HD upgrade almost free.

TBargains has posted that DeLL WILL honor both rebates. I can't believe I didn't order because I didn't think they would.

I missed the delivery man yesterday, so I had UPS drop off the package at my workplace. I just now received it. Packing slip was included, and both rebates are listed as line items!
