Just go into any Discount Tire store near you and act like your just window shopping for a set of 4 tires, and not really wanting to buy today. They will give you a retail price on the four tires. Act like it's more than you want to spend. They will give you one tire for free. In my case they wanted $97 per tire on Pirelli 3000. I said not really in the market to buy today. The salesman called over the manager and he reduced the price by $97 to get me to buy today. Don't accept a cheaper tire, which they will try to sell you. Just act like you aren't ready to buy today. Valves are free, and balancing is $12 per tire. Also, there is a $30 coupon discount online at DT you can use until 10/29 I believe.YMMV

Nice! I was thinking that it was about time to start thinking about replacing my Khumo's with another set.

In for four Hankook W300 snow tires! I deleted valve stems and replacement certificates. When I look at the odds of needing a replacement, the shipping costs, mount and balance costs, etc, it looks like a waste to me.

I'd like to strongly suggest that you look for a place that uses a road force balancer - I believe Hunter is the only brand.

Most balancing is best guess and for cars with larger tires or cars driven at higher speeds, it's unlikely you'll get an adequate balance without a road force balance. I've also found several factory wheels and tires that were unbalanceable and needed to be replaced.

does anyone know what lugnuts will work with the "unique steelies" I ordered a set of snows but i didn't get the installation kit as it was 45 dollars. I asked the people at discount tire and they told me it uses the regular acorn lugnuts

Could someone link me to some? I have a scion tC...

The last time I bought tires from Tirerack I called Discount Tire and asked if they could match or beat the price (they advertise they will beat anyone's price, including internet dealers). They said they could and they could on the brand and size of tires I asked about, but I had to come down. Since DT was near where I wanted to eat lunch, I went down, spoke in person with the same (assistant manager) I spoke with on the phone. To make a long story short, no price match, just a hard sell to buy a no-name Chinese tire instead.

I've bought from the Discount Tire store before, but never again.

NOTE-Discount Tire is a B&M chain, apparently different from the Discount Tire Direct this thread is about.

NTB near me priced match TireRack (including shipping), I just brought in the print-out showing OTD price and they matched that - so I paid tax on top of TireRack price without having to wait (my car got 2 flats on worn tires already, so I'd rather not have waited for shipping). But in the end it's up to the guy at the counter or store manager - so YMMV

On another note: NTB has buy 3 tires get 1 free. I'm going to try to go over there today and get them to price match TR or DTD, then give me the 1 free. For the tires I'm looking at, that will be $150-$170 off which beats the DTD price. Plus you get a $50 Amex GC for purchases over $500 - so I'll be rolling in the money

We've sounded the "all hands on deck" alarm, and we've got everyone working double-time to fill your order. Unfortunately we're still overwhelmed, so much so that you may not have heard from us yet.

thanks, OP. Got a set of P205-65-15s (I BADLY need new tires). The only issue is I don't have the equipment to mount/balance, so it's going to cost another $80 for that. Even with that added cost, it's about $90 cheaper than buying them through a local tire shop. That savings will pay for an alignment!

Great deal!

Still, so long as it's not a month, I'm OK with it.
