This is stolen from SD, theres a huge discussion over there and it seems not mentioned here. (but search is broken, so it may be a repost)

Dell EPP link:
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/...s=2236&oc=A4735B1&link_number=17970622

Configure with
CD/DVD burner Dual Layer (+$0)
24" Ultrasharp 2407FPW Widescreen LCD (+$410)
1GB nvidia 7950GX2, single slot dual core GPU (+450)
Send me PC Magazine Subscription (+$0)
Symantec Antivirus x64 (+$0)

Add to cart
Get a EPP 30% coupon on ebay (search ebay for "Dell EPP 30%")
http://search.ebay.com/dell-epp-coupon

Price = 2362 - 30% - 12% automatic = $1455.
There is a 5% off Discover card cash back for another 5%.
If you don't have discover, you can use your DPA account to get 2%

You can also change the mouse to normal for another 10 bucks off. Also, upgrading to 2GB RAM or adding the warranty to 4 years should be cheap as well, since the price is pre-percentage off. Do not upgrade the CPU, you can get a Pentium D 930, 940, 950 for way cheaper from the likes of newegg, chiefvalue, zzf, monarch or mwave.

I am so tempted right now its not even funny. I believe they do not check for your EPP validity. But many over in SD have not yet received confirmations yet. When they ask you for member info, simply tell them you either work for a huge, small medium company or a going to school.

the 24" costs 700 dollars, and GX2 will cost well about 500-550. making the XPS 700 merely 200 dollars? damn dell why must you tempt me like this!!!

Please let me know how this works out. Not only last week did I open my wallet and get a XPS 400 for my wife with a 2407 & X1900XTX (the vid card I bought myself seperate much cheaper), 2GB for a total around $2280.

Please tell me more about what EPP is...

I am so about ready to send this system packing if I can indeed get this deal.

EPP is a program for companies and universities to sign up their employees and students for dell deals. they are priced similar to dell home, but this particular 30% coupon on ebay now only applies to EPP

I ordered once from EPP before, back when my old company did have a membership code. however many are saying dell does not have the manpower to verify if you are a member or not. if (or when) i pull the trigger on this deal, i may have to get my gf's company's EPP code or use her name since shes a grad student.

they still let you order without the member ID, and you simply tell them if you are a faculty, student, veterans or employee of one of those options on the drop down list. to make this less risky i would order use people with valid ID to get on this deal.

XPS 700 board is conroe ready as well. i am only thinking more reasons to get it and less reasons not to. i can off my XPS600 with dual GTX for some money and get on this for much cheaper. and the 24" monitor! man. i am not getting any work done today!!!

Thanks very much for the information... I work for Sears Holdings Corp. and we get employee discounts from dell so I hope this qualifies.

I ordered 2 XPS 700s on Saturday night when this was posted on SD. I just now got the confirmation email for the first one. Just to let you all know, the ship date is pushed back until mid August for some reason. Not sure if it's a design flaw or what. But, my buddy at Dell is looking into it for me.

it probably has to do with some mathmatical equation taking into the effect of past orders average production time and the amount of queued orders currently in the system.

Nah, this has been going on since early June. A guy over on SD has had one on order since June 6th. It is still not in production.

i sometimes on purpose give them the wrong authentication CC code (the 4 digit code on AMEX or 3 digit on visa/MC) (especially for outlet orders) and then that gives me a day or two to think about the deal while they have the grace period for you to contact them for the correct information. if i dont want it i just let them cancel it for me.

Based on an email I got, they appear to be having issues with x64 and the 7950GX2. It is still on the regular config pages with the 32 bit OS.
