Ok, came across this thread over at the FW that someone purchased a NEW S200 Cannon at BestBuy for $178.99, and there is a posted Receipt up as well now! Store was Bacon Raton FL and the scan of receipt just went up, so we will have to see if anyone can get another Best Buy to honor this or PM to a local CC or something. I am looking at the receipt right now, looks official. I will try tomorrow to get my local Best Buy to match this, not sure if this was a store mistake or if this thing is getting ready for clearence or special sale. GL

I wouldn't count on getting this deal. I've been following the FW thread since the beginning when the guy was a new member (he's now posted enough in that thread to reach "member" status). To summarize, no one can find any Best Buy offering the price he claims he got, no one can confirm the price at his Best Buy, and his scanned receipt is hand-written (suggesting some sort of demo/open-box/special item). Try PMing a hand-written receipt printed off the internet with the original store denying the receipt price at your local BB or CC. Um, yeah . .. .

Welp I've been phenomenally happy with them so there ya go. 2 cameras from them for me personally, and one recomended for a friend.

This is a good deal to me! Just order from a reputable retailer. Use AMEX BVG to order from Dell for $299 shipped free with no tax. $299 - $10 eBates - $74 from PM = $215. The cost is almost $20 more than the one from BB since you have to pay sales tax when getting from BB, but you have to test your luck at BB.

I will be updating the Title of this Thread to show DEAD, it was confirmed by two people after calling the Boca Raton store that it was a price mistake and it has been fixed. SO NO GO, plus the receipt used is normally used for Open Box Merchandise, so the poster of the orig message on FW was either very lucky, or just got an open box deal and was just being an azz by trying to pass it off as a "new" purchase. Either way, nothing to see here, move along :disgust: sorry if I wasted your time.

this deal is definitely not dead!

i just found the thread on FW this afternoon.....went to my local staples, and they wouldn't do it cuz the BB here was OOS, so i called up staples - talked to CSR patrice and she was very helpful - pricematched it quickly and with no problems at all, then i politely asked if i could use a coupon as well and she was like sure, what's the number - got 2 of them for $316.xx shipped!!!!!

they wouldn't let me stack coupons like i should be able to though - there is a stackable 10 off 50, which i wanted to combine with the 40 off 200 i used.

so don't count this as dead, but as usual with PM'ing and staples - YMMV

The deal isn't dead. I got it to work - I walked into the local Circuit City, showed them the BB receipt (the only one I brought - I should've brought the Staples receipt, but there is no local Staples in this area, so I didn't do that) and they immediately pricematched it.

I'm very happy with the S200. It isn't super high tech, and I'll have to read the manual to figure it out, but for $180, it's pretty good. The focusing works well, the optical 2x zoom works well, and for the limited needs I've got (a shot here and there, a printout to a Canon S820 photo printer I just picked up) it's great. It's also incredibly portable.

For twice as much I could get the new Elph 230, which has 3 megapixels - 50% more - but the only time I'm going to need that is for bigger than 4x6" printouts, and I don't see that as that important. That strikes me as a lot of money for something I probably don't need.

And I can sell it for $200 easily, if I decide I want to upgrade.
