I know there is a deal about K-byte PC133 256MB at Staples B&M. The price at Staples is $44.94 before $15 MIR and coupon. In Officemax, you can get the same memory for around $15 after two officemax rebates ($15+$15) and PM with Staples. If you are able to use a $10 coupon in officemax, you may be able to get it for $5.

I saw the same memory is sold for $89.99 in bestbuy.com. There are two rebates for this memory. Both rebates expire on 8/17/2002. One is $40 BB rebate. Another one is $25 manufacturer rebate. You can find both rebates on line at here

I purchased the memory at Staples for $44.94. Remember that the UPC barcode was printed on the Staples receipt. With receipt from Staples on hand, I went to BB and bought second one. I got two printed rebate forms. The package for memory sold at BB looks different. However, the UPC barcode is the same. Then I went to the customer service desk and asked for price match. Final price: $89.99 - ($89.99-$44.94) x 1.1 = $40.43. $40.43 - $40 BB rebate - $25 rebate = -$24.57. You earn $24.57 for buying the memory.

Now rush to Staples and Best Buy. Good luck.

Does sound like a good deal...but why buy the ram at staples to begin with? Can't you just take in an add?

Both BestBuy rebates require the original UPC from the box. Could this be a problem...?

The one going to Calais,ME(BB ) is dated "08/15/2002 TO 08/17/2002"
on purchase dates and that would be the one that gets the copy of the UPC..the one going to Phoenix, AZ (Reptron) is dated "08/15/2002 TO 08/17/2002" and gets the original UPC as always YMMV and make copies of all submitted materials..hiya Spanky

I called BB 1-800 number and talked to a CSR named Mary. I was told to send original UPC to Phoenix, AZ for $25 manufacturer rebate and send copy of UPC to Calais, ME for $40 BB rebate. Make copy of all forms and UPC. On the $40 BB rebate, indicate that the original UPC barcode was mailed to Phoenix, AZ for rebate BB27465. I suggest you include a copy of $25 mail-in rebate in the $40 rebate submission. If you have any issue about getting rebate, call BB rebate center at 1-800-849-0444. They will help you get your rebate.

Nice! This is great if I could pull it off -- the BB I go to always give me the our-after-rebate-price-is-better line whenever I try to do a PM. But for a profit of 25 bucks, I'm willing to try.

I think that BB has "caught on"

I tried it and although the computer department supervisor said OK, I "struck out" when I tried the PM at the service desk. As the clerk tried to PM, the cash register rang up a "price" of $47 which I suspect, is BB's cost! She told me that she could ONLY reduce the price by 10% which would bring it down to about $80. With the rebates, the cost would be $15 which is still a good price for 256MB, but I "passed" because I already have almost 0.5 GB in my machine. I'll "sleep on it" and decide in the morning whether or not to take their offer. Any other suggestions?

This worked like a champ for me. Nothing like getting paid to take memory home. I did the PM at the cash register. The price rings up, then the PM amount is entered. The rebates don't print until the purchase is complete! The cashier even said that he wondered if this was right, but the credit card was already charged. My wife did this right behind me. $50 for a quick trip to BB. (South Side Indianapolis Store)...

Beautiful Man!!! Thanks!!

Went in to BB, purchased 2 sticks on 2 different CCs at $89.99 each, then did a little shopping next door. Went back with the Staples ad and only the sales receipts (left the rebate stuff in the car) and requested a PM. They had to call Staples to verify stock, but since it is the busy back to school rush, nobody would pick up the phone. I waited them out (15 mins or so), and the CSR felt sorry for me and her manager said no problem with the 110% PM since I had the ad.

My mother-in-law gets a memory upgrade!! Whoohoo!!

I have always had more success buying at BB first, then requesting the PM.

I try this last night without success, the manager say they don't PM the instant rebates and would only PM it for $79. I ask him to show me where it said that in the price guarantee, but the store was closing so he wouldn't do it and give me a corp CS 800 number to call. Has anyone else heard that BS at Besy Buy before? Fortunately there are two other store in my area, so I will try another store.

I decided to NOT be greedy so I explained to the guy in the computer department that I just wanted a price match that would make my cost FREE because I had figured out that I could do that at OM with a competitor's $10 off $50 coupon since I had to buy something else at OM anyway! In fact, I'll be able to save even more at OM because I saw some other good stuff on clearance when I was in the store to confirm the $39.99 price. He said that he couldn't do anything so I pointed out to him that they offered me a 10% discount last night and he agreed to that, but wouldn't budge anymore.

Since I would have been satisfied to get it for FREE and wasn't counting on making any $, I was just "testing" BB's PM policy and I've decided that it isn't worth anything! so I'll be taking my business elsewhere and will probably shop at BB even less than I have been! I suggest that you all do the same!

The price of the same memory was sold for $39.99 with two $15 rebates in OfficeMax Boston stores. They didn't allow me to use Staples $10 off $40 coupon.

If you use receipt from Officemax or Staples to do price match at BB, the manager probably can't find another excuse not PM the price. What they can do is to hide the item so that you can't find it.

I love the manager at my semi local Best Buy. The cashier didn't know what to do. I had asked for the 79.99 - $35 instant savings = $44.99 price. But there is the $15 mail in rebate at Staples. So I hear the manager say, "Give it to him for $19.99.". I remain calm. Another cashier says that you can't do that. It's a MIR. The manager says to do it and he'll sign off on it. So I walk out the door for $21.02 including tax. I should make $45 off if it. Thankss seatidex and Best Buy!!!!

I struck out twice...

First BB would do it but closest Staples was OOS.

2nd BB exprience was a mix of tomho and Yobbos. (this time I checked closet staples and they had 3 on the shelf)
Cashier couldn't beleive that they were the same RAM at first once I convinced him it was he had to get the manger. Manager offered to sell it to me for $84.00 so that it would be the same price as staples after rebates. I said The staples price is $44.99 out the door with no rebates and I would only have to wait for $15 in rebates instead o $65 he just stared at me and then said "Put it on a Best Buy Charge and it's 90 Days same as cash."

I pointed to the PM policy and said the 110% (not including rebates) and they wouldn't match a rebate if I walked in the door with one, so shoe on the other foot they can't factor them in. His response was "Well I can't sell it to you for that price You would make $25." I said so what, The PM policy clearly stated that they will match a competitors advertised price by 110% it doesn't say anything about including rebates and me not being allowed to make any money, It's their policy after all. Blank stare and then he said I am not PM'ing it for that price.

So there you have it another BB manager stating that he wouldn't honor BB's advertised Price Match Gaurantee.

My very first PM experience.

At first I told one of the CSR that I want to PM, he told me that he can't PM cuz their price is lower Staple's (after rebates). I told him that PM should be before rebates, after back and forth for awhile, he turn it to his supervisor, the supervisor agreed to PM after calling Staples to check. He then told me that I can only use the $25 rebate cuz the $40 rebate is over my purchased price. I decided not to buy it since I don't need PC133. I still have his PM authorization sheet, still debating.
