Folks have reported getting the the rev. 5 version of the board and the B stepping processors.

Good luck. I plan to stop by later, although I dont need one !!!!!!

If you can sell the mobo, the processor costs dirt cheap..

I *think* the rev. 5 has an onboard IDE RAID controller and FSB settings viz. jumpers, but am not sure. Does anyone have any more info. on the OC capabilities of this board ?

RAID and Firewire are options on the V5.0 board. Neither of the 2 I bought have either one, but it sounds like a couple of people got lucky.

V2.0 didn't have overclocking, the V5.0 does via jumpers and the PLL supports 100MHz-166MHz in 1 MHz increments. The design of the board changed a lot. Look at the K7VTA3 board versions at www.ecsusa.com.

I am not sure since I don't have the K7VTA3 but my ECS KS5A has the version number on one of the 4 corners of the motherboard.

Was going to jump on this, but the website says it's a VIA KT333 chipset (K7VTA3 v5) not going back to those, plus VIA are evil DRM-supporters.

I prefer the K7S5A Pro v5 SiS735 chipset that Fry's used to sell.

Of course if I could get the RAID/Firewire version for $60....

Just got one from Fremont Frys - Green chip - JIUHB - overclocking as we speak
Also bought one from Sacramento Frys yesterday - Brown chip - JIHXB - not a good overclocker - it wont go over 2.20 Ghz - does 2.10 Ghz @ default, 2.20 @ 1.675v, but nothing more (i gave it will 1.85v).

i have had good luck with green chips so i hope this one will also do good. My last 1800+ did 2.30 Ghz (too bad i damaged the core due to my stupid mistake.....its currently being RMAed by AMD).

You damage your chip, and then RMA it?

well, this chip was still working. but in bios it comes up as 1700+ instead of 1800+. I know it was working fine before i flashed the bios, so thats why i was saying "stupid me" should not have messed w/ bios. Well, i bought a new chip to test if it was the chip or mobo and the new chip showed up as 1800 in bios, so maybe chip started to die ??

i have sent the chip to AMD and lets see what they will do.

I am guessing that something messed up in the core or maybe something else but i dont know...

Confirmed, the Sacramento Fry's is packing the JIHXB. Was planning to OC the sucker but I can't complain too much considering the price of the combo.

Hmm, maybe you were running at 100FSB instead of 133?

A friend of mine did that with his 1.67GHz started running at 1.25 or something - it seems to default to 100FSB, for Duron compatbility I guess.....
